[ Y/N's POV ]

"5, 6, 7, 8!" My dance teacher said loudly, counting along to the beats of the music. My body swayed, following the choreography that I was taught moments ago.

For today's lesson, I was being assessed on my dance and synchronisation skills. Admittedly, dancing was not my best skill. Ironic, as I was just performing in a musical last night.

I stumbled over over a missed dance move, wincing slightly as I applied too much pressure on my ankle. The pain shot up rapidly through my leg, causing me to take a sharp breath in as I hissed.

I have to finish this dance first!

I thought determined, trying my best to forget the sharp pain in my leg and continued.

"(Y/N)! Focus, darling!" The teacher called, as I looked back at her and nodded. "A little more to go, you got this." I whispered to myself, directing all of my energy into the last few dance moves of the choreography as the song ended.

As the song faded in the background, I felt myself collapse onto the floor in exhaustion. Taking a deep breath in, I looked at my aching leg. It looked fine on the surface, but I could feel the waves of pain pulsing under my skin.

Rubbing it in a futile attempt to soothe myself, I looked at my teacher. "Sorry. I missed a step and somewhat twisted my ankle half-way through the dance." I said to her, pointing at my injured leg.

She frowned, walking over to me. "How badly does it hurt?" She placed her hand gently onto my ankle, applying pressure. I winced, closing my eyes without a second thought as I hissed in pain. "That much.." I said quietly, trying to blink back the tears starting to form.

Mrs. Jones patted my head, letting go of my ankle and pulled her phone out from her back pocket. She proceeded to get onto her phone, calling someone. "Ms. Katie? Are you busy? (Y/N) of year 6 might have sprained her ankle during my lesson." She said into the phone, as I heard a response from Ms. Katie, the nurse.

"Oh, I'm quite busy right now.. I'll send someone up to help her down to the infirmary and I'll see what I can do from there." Ms. Katie said. I had to turn away, acting as if I didn't eavesdrop their conversation.

Having sharp hearing really has its disadvantages..

I thought with a slight frown. Mrs. Jones put her hand onto my shoulder, rubbing it in small circular motions soothingly. "Ms. Katie said someone will be coming up to help bring you to her." She said with a small smile.

"I'm so sorry about this Mrs. Jones.." I said, knowing that this was extra work for her. Now, she would have to write up a report about my injury to inform the school office.

She shook her head, "Don't worry about it! Seeing that you tried your best to finish the dance despite being injured, that alone is deserving of a pass."

I let out a breath (that I didn't know I was holding), "I'll try to get better as soon as I can and perform it once more for you. Hopefully I'll score better by then." I was extremely relieved. At least my performance was not a complete failure.

Mrs. Jones laughed at my response, patting my head. "I'll be looking forward for it." She smiled. Her smile was truly beautiful; the joy was just radiating off her. I could feel myself feel a little better just from her reassuring words.
