chapter seven. choco milk

June 1986

Dahlia's eyes flutter open to see her father walking into her room. "Hey, sweetie," he says sitting down on her bed. "Hi," she says in a sleepy voice. "Where are you going?" The eight-year-old asks with a smile.

"I'm just going to the store," Greg explains. "Can you buy me some choco milk?" Dahlia asks as he nods. "Sure. Goodnight, Lia. I love you," he says kissing her forehead. "Good night daddy," she says with a smile before yawing.

Greg goes to the door as he watches Dahlia slowly fall back to sleep before he walks out of her room. He grabs his bag before heading downstairs and leaving the house and locking the door behind him.
