It was the middle of the night. I couldn't sleep for some reason. It may have been because I couldn't stop thinking about being helpless.I can't stop thinking about it. The previous day when I was being held down, or when the bullies beat me up. Also when the kids at school held me back in the hall while fighting that guy. Uuug, I hate being helpless..." I sat up from the mattress on the floor. They let me stay the night. I told them my parents would be worried, but they said I would have to stay here. I reached beside me and grabbed the key I got. "Hmmm maybe if I say the element like Liam did. I can get a weapon. Then I won't be helpless and I can provide assistance to my new friends!" I stood up looking at the key. "But what if something goes wrong?" I sit back down disappointed. "I can wait..." "wise choice." I jumped and looked behind me. It was Kori. "Oh... hey, what are you doing up so late?" "I could ask you the same thing." She walked over to me and sat on the couch. "Listen..." she puts her hand on my shoulder. "I know what it's like to feel helpless." I was shocked. "You heard that?!" "Yea. Sorry for being silent." "It's fine." "Anyway. It's okay that you couldn't do anything back there. No one was backing you up and you aren't that familiar with fighting from what I can tell. I wasn't always a fighter... I used to be weak and helpless." She stands up and starts to walk away. "Please don't feel like you're helpless or useless. You just don't know much yet." She walks back to her room. I lay back down and closed my eyes. Surprisingly I fell asleep. The next morning I was startled by someone poking my shoulder. I sat up but met the forehead of Gailen. "Ow!" We both yelled in pain. "Sorry!" We both said at the same time. "Ahahahaha-" we looked at each other having just laughed at the same time. "Uh sorry about waking you up." Gailen said. "Liam needs you." He said as I sat up. "Oh. Where is he?" "Follow me." He grabs my arm and we walk to a door. *-_- seriously what is it with pulling?* He opened the door and the room looked like a gym. Liam and another girl with orange hair and green eyes were there. "Hey! It's nice to meet you. Your new right?!" The girl said, pulling me to Liam. "I'm Amali! What's your name?" "Nadia." "Nice to meet you. Me and Liam will be teaching you how to control your powers.I reached into my pocket where I put my key and held it out. "Like how to control this?" She looked at the key closely. "That will be for when you can control your powers." She said "Oh." I responded. "Now. what's your power?" Amali asks. "It's lighting." She pulls my hands out. *How many times am I gonna get pulled!?* I thought. "Hold your hands like this." She holds her hand out in front of her. Amali crossed her arms and faced her pals toward each other. "This is the form of lighting. There are many different types of powers and each have their own form. Now put the heel of your dominant foot on your other foot's toe." I put my arms like her. Then I put my legs like she said so. "That's good." Liam added. "Now close your eyes and think about lighting being calm. Then think about lighting being interlaced with your fingers." I nod and think of lighting being calm and slow. Then I imagine it in my fingers slowly tracing my hands. Jumping back and forth in its blue and white glory. I heard a few gasps. I opened my eyes. It looks like I'm taller. I look down. I'm slightly floating. Calm lighting is covering my body. "What the heck?!" I fell back down. The lighting faded. "What was that!?" I yelled. "That was so cool! How did you do that?!" Amali said, putting her hands on my shoulders. "I don't know!" I yelled. "Uhh... maybe focus on just your hands to be safe." Liam said. "Okay... sorry." I apologized. "What are you apologizing for? That was amazing!" Amali said. "Yea it was but be more careful." Liam said. "Ok." I got into the lighting form again and thought of only my hands being interlaced and traced with lighting. I open my eyes and there is lighting only in my hands. "Don't lose focus... now slowly pull your hands apart." Liam said cautiously. I slowly pulled my hands apart. The lighting slightly tingled in my hands. "Now grab the ends." I looked confused but did it. I felt the lighting detach from my hands. "Now cross your arms back still holding onto the lighting." I did what he said to do. "Now let go with your nondominant hand." I let go of the lighting with my nondominant hand. It looked like three whips tied together. "Good!" Liam said excitedly. "Now, let's see how long you can hold onto it." "Ok okay." I poked it. It did nothing. "What happens if you guys touch it?" I asked. "We would likely get shocked." Liam said. "Also is this my weapon?" "No, it's not your permanent one. It's just a temporary thing until you unlock your key." Amali said. I looked at it closely. It was blue and white like all lighting is. The zigzag features slowly moved in jagged directions. It was almost hypnotizing. I look up at Liam and Amali. "What are you guys' weapons?" They seemed surprised at the sudden comment. "You have already seen mine." Liam said. "Ooh! Ooh! Let me show you mine!" He grabbed her key out of her pocket and shower it to me. It was black and red. The colors were slightly wiggling together. "My power is lava." She got on her knees and put her key in the ground. She put her left hand over it completely covering the key. "Lava!" Aha said as she slowly lifted her hand and a large line of sparkling gold appeared. She slowly stood up. She closed her hand at her shoulder. She grabbed the gold line and appeared a black spotted spear with reds and oranges surrounding it. Amali spun it around a bit to show off. She stopped it by putting the dull end of the spear on the ground. "This is my weapon." She let go of it and it disappeared into the key. She grabbed it from the air and put is back in her pocket.
