Shopping Trip

That week Jack had returned to work leaving Nikki at home with Katy for the first time, despite not having Jack around she had everything in hand and was acting like she has had a newborn baby many times. 

With it being the height of August Nikki decides to take Katy into town so Nikki can get herself a nice summer dress for her god-daughter Harper's christening on the weekend, Just before lunchtime Nikki set out with Katy in the car and headed for the nearest clothing outlets on the high street away from the main city. 
Nikki had visited a few shops before picking up a dress she likes and then moving on to Mothercare and browses the summer sale rails looking for something small enough to fit Katy for the christening as she would have to come with them as her arrival wasn't due until a week after the christening and Nikki doesn't want to leave her with anyone else yet. 

Nikki soon decides on a pretty floral summer dress with pink flowers on white material, even with it being summer Nikki also purchases a set of light link thrilly socks to go with the outfit. All the time Nikki is browsing the clothing aisle in Mother Care Katy remains asleep in her pram, Nikki smirks as she moves the blanket off Katy's lap to stop her from getting too warm and notices her sleeping just like Jack. 
She smirks as Katy wakes slightly and opens one eye before settling down again, Nikki pulls her phone out and takes her phone out of her handbag and takes a photo of her newborn, and sends it to Jack with a message attached 'She's just like you when she is fast asleep, missing you xx'. 

Picking up a few more items she feels her phone vibrate against her hip and pulls it out to see a message from Jack in response to her photo of Katy, 'Well needed, pick me up, she looks content. Can't wait for a good cuddle from my girls later, xxx' 

She smiles to herself and wonders if Jack has a tough case and that is why the picture of Katy has made his day. 'tough day?' She responds. 
Instantly she gets a response from Jack, 'Could say that, child case.' 
Her heart plummets knocking it was clearly hitting home more for Jack now than it would of before they had a child together, 'I love you Jack, both Katy and I adore you, don't forget that' she simply responds not knowing what to respond with as she knows she would be in the same boat if she wasn't on maternity leave. 

Soon Nikki heads to the tills and pays for the few items she has picked up for Katy, "That would be thirty-three pounds please," The cashier smiles as she glances at Katy in her pushchair. 
Nikki opens up her purse and pulls out the money and passes it to the cashier and smiles back at her as she gets Nikki the change. "How old?" The cashier asks looking at Katy as she passes Nikki the change. 
"Two weeks and four days," Nikki smiles as she picks up the bag with the clothes in and places them in the basket under the pushchair. 
"She is adorable, congratulations," The cashier smiles and Nikki smiles back before looking down at Katy and leaving the shop. 

Nikki soon finds the nearest cafe and sits down with Katy, she gets her out of the pushchair and sits cradling her watching her completely amazed by her daughter. "I can't believe you are all mine, baby girl," Nikki mumbles and kisses Katy's head. 

The waitress in the cafe brings Nikki's drink order over to her and smiles as she places it down on the table in front of her, Nikki looks up at the waitress and smiles cheerfully at her, "Thank you... also, am I okay to feed her in here? I mean like breastfeed?" Nikki smiles slightly. 

"Absolutely fine," The waitress responds. 
Nikki smiles cheerfully and looks down at Katy and grabs a bib out of her changing bag and places it around Katy's neck and kisses her head once again. "Oh you are such a hungry girl are you?" Nikki chuckles as she unclips her nursing bra as Katy lets out a cry and startles herself at the same time. 
Nikki rolls her top up slightly not to reveal too much and brings Katy closer allowing her to latch. Nikki sits there patting Katy's bum and rocking her slowly as she gazes down at her still amazed by the little human in her arms. "How about we pay Daddy a little visit this afternoon?" Nikki smiles as she strokes Katy's foot. "And we can see uncle Thomas and Auntie Clarissa" Nikki coos.
