Carol was round in a heartbeat she had missed out on too many years of not being able to comfort her daughter and she wasn't going to miss a chance now. Nikki opens the door and smiles as she sees her Mum stood before her, Nikki had to pinch herself just looking at her comforting smile, her mum was alive and well. "Nikki darling come here" Carol smiles pulling her daughter into a tight hug, Nikki didn't miss how her mother's South African accent came through, something so comforting to her right now.
"Mum" she breathes she finally lets herself cry again but this time she had her mother, Nikki felt twelve years old again and she wishes she could stay like this forever."Come on let's get inside, I'll pop the kettle on" Carol smiles pulling back from her daughter feeling her reluctantly let go. "Now where is my gorgeous granddaughter?" Carol adds following Nikki through to the kitchen.
"Asleep on her sensory mat... in the lounge," Nikki says leaning back against the countertop and watching Carol fill the kettle.
She smiles happily as she watches her Mum look cluelessly around her kitchen after her mug cupboard before coming across it. Although Nikki was upset from her bust-up with Jack she couldn't help but smile at her Mum's presence, it was like she hadn't changed at all, time had stood still for Carol apart from her bright blonde hair becoming a vibrant white.
"Do you take sugar, darling?" Carol quizzes, Nikki shakes her head and takes a breath watching her prepare their drinks.
Carol waits for the kettle to boil and stands admiring her daughter all grow up leaning against the countertop. The kettle boils and Carol pours the boiling water into the two mugs, "Come on let's go sit down and talk about your mishap," Carol smiles and Nikki leads the way into the lounge.
Nikki sits down on the sofa and tucks her knees under herself as she glances down at Katy who is fast asleep once again looking exactly how Jack does when he sleeps. "So darling, what happened between you two? you seemed to happy with Jack only a couple of weeks back," She smiles her accent flicking off her tongue.
"He's been working loads recently, I know it's a strenuous job but he hardly does anything with Katy, Mum... I'm so tired I just want to sleep while he's home but he's even working at home. I love him so much but I guess we both miss being free do to what we please without thinking about Katy, but I don't regret getting pregnant with her I adore her, she was planned and I don't get it he was all down for being a father and now he hardly changes a nappy."
Carol just nods and listens to her daughter rant away, "Oh darling, you need to talk to him more, tell him about how you are feeling. I'm no midwife but could it be a spot of the baby blues?" Carol quizzes her daughter.
"He's hardly going to want to speak to me now I called him a useless father," She sighs.
Carol brings her mug to her lips and takes a sip of the contents, "Nicola you listen to me, if that man loves you then he will come back to you, and then you can tell him how you feel."
"I'm just so tired Mum... I love Jack I really do but..." She stutters at her words.
"But he's a new parent just like you too, as much as I hate your Father but he was the same when you were born, threw himself into... well some form of 'work' to get away from you because you were one hell of a fussy baby forever colic'ing," Carol responds."Don't say that Mum, Katy had colic constantly. I don't want Jack and I, to end up the way you and Dad did..." Nikki breathes realizing Katy was the same as herself as a baby.
"Trust me, I can see the good in Jack... He has a good heart dear, treasure it... He will understand I promise you," She begins and watches her daughter finish her coffee and give a sigh of defeat. "Now while I am here why don't you go have a laydown upstairs and I will watch over Katy," Carol smiles glancing down at her Granddaughter."Would you?" Nikki smiles and Carol nods softly, "Thank you so much, I'll be half-hour that's it, wake me if she needs feeding" Nikki smiles as she gets up off the sofa and takes her mug into the kitchen before heading upstairs and laying down on the bed, in a matter of minutes she was fast asleep.
