The next morning Terra was on her way to the bookstore to grab another book yet she couldn't decide whether to pick another horror themed one or a sci-fi.
She looked down and gripped the book firmly so that she didn't drop it seeing as there was a whole bunch of people in the morning rush to work. Terra didn't have to work though seeing as nobody knew the hut even existed so she didn't have to worry about any bills of sorts. The only people who knew were those three idiots from yesterday. She used to go to work though, in a high class restaurant which earned her a lot of money so she uses that now so that she dosent have to worry about money. Plus her aunt also gave her some money every now and then so that Terra wouldn't struggle when she got older.
Terra put her head down so that she didn't have to see anyone's face while she walks. She knew exactly where she was going though because that's the only other place she goes to, other than the market that is. Terra was so close to the book store that all she had to do was cross the street however before she could there was this woman about to bump into her. The woman looked as if she was bracing herself for impact but Terra was smarter than that. There was this tiny little gap in the huge mass of people that she quickly stepped to the side and continued on her walk, leaving the woman in awe.
Terra crossed the street and saw that the door to the bookstore was right in front of her so she hurried and placed her hand on the handle of the door. She was about to open the door when she noticed something about the woman that she was about to bump into.
That woman had white hair.
Terra gave a small frown before walking into the bookstore.
"Oh Terra! What can I do for you dear?"
The owner asked from behind the counter with a small smile to which Terra returned with a fake one. She pointed at the book which made the man nod his head towards the little isle behind her. "New books just came in, I think you would like to take a look before they are all gone my dear" the man suggested."Thank you sir" Terra said with a small smile, fake of course but a smile nonetheless.
She turned on her heel and made her way to the isle. The smell of a newly opened book smacking you right in the face and the warm atmosphere that surrounds this place was comforting to Terra.
"Hey its you!"
The strange voice said in surprise. Terra rolled her eyes and picked out a book.
"What do you want Ross?" Terra asked in annoyance before giving the book the "feel test". Terra always loved a good book and would like to be comfortable while reading which also included the fingers. If Terra dosent like the way it felt in her hands then she would leave the book even if it was interesting. Some call it picky but Terra calls it being comfortable so she dosent care who thinks what.
She picked out a book that had a fuzzy hard cover which intrigued her and it felt good but the topic of the book made her instantly put the book away. It was about the Five Pillars and what they looked like, what their life was like being a Pillar but Terra didn't care for them. She knew that even if there was a book written on it that the information was most likely all what the mind thought of and not what actual happened or what they actually looked like. For example the Fifth Pillar, rumor has it that she has white hair and bright yellow eyes. It states in text that she got her hair and eye color from her father being as he was born in Domaria and domarians usually have white hair and bright red eyes.
Ross noticed that she instantly put the book away so he took it upon himself to look at it.
"You don't like the Pillars?" Ross asked, staring at Terra with a look a puppy gives when they want something from their owners.
Terra gave a loud 'tsk' before continuing on with her book searching. "So you do like the Pillars, got it!" Ross stated, placing the book back and walking towards Terra.
She stopped and turned to Ross with a book she decided to take home in her hands. " I never said that Ross. I just don't talk about it because people have too much opinions about the topic. Yes people are entitled to their own opinions but what good is an opinion if its forced. That's why I don't speak on the topic all that much, if at all."
Terra stated, walking off to the front counter and paid for her book and walked out of the door, not even looking back at Ross who was a little shocked at the fact that Terra spoke more than a simple sentence to him. She more like told him a little inner monolog about how she felt. Ross turned around to see that she had already left.
Ross ran to the old man behind the counter and asked where she went to which the man said that he never knows where she heads off to being as he is always in the bookstore. Ross nodded and thanked the man before running out the door to see if he could find her.
"She can't have gone that far right? I mean she just left!" Ross thought to himself as he was searching the crowd, yet there was no sign of Terra.
Terra peeked her head put from a corner of a little jewelry shop to see Ross sigh and walk in the other direction opposite of where Terra came from. She sighed as well and put her hood back on and made her way back home without anyone to bother her.
When she got home she opened the looked door and closed it shut behind her yet there was something off about the house, like someone was already in here. Terra srugged and made her way to her kitchen and placed the book down on the counter before getting a cutting board from a cabinet just opposite of her foot. She places it on the counter and goes to the fridge to grab a carrot before grabbing a knife that was in its little rack.
She started cutting up the carrots before taking a peek behind her to see nothing however whoever it was wasnt good at what they were doing because whoever it was came in through the window and left it slightly open, allowing the slightest change of temperature to climb into the warm hut.
Terra loosely gripped the knife but not loose enough that it would fall from her hands. She took a deep breath and quickly turned on her heel and threw the knife with such precision, too much precision. The knife cut through the air and pierced the wall just above the plank rack so far that the handle almost came in contact with the wall itself. Terra smirked as two hands instantly raised themselves in defense.
"You know for someone who is trained under the late Grandmaster you aren't good at hiding at all, Karice"
Terra stated, a mocking tone leaving her lips to which a huff was heard from behind the pile of wooden planks before a woman in a black cloak revealed herself.
"You know why I'm here Terra"
"Not at all Karice"
Terra deflected even though she knew too well why she was here, in her hut, waiting for her to return. She wanted answers that only Terra would know and she wouldn't leave until she got them.
