"So Terra where are you from? Ann asked, stuffing her face with the ribs that Terra made for lunch.
"Ann don't be disrespectful" Ross stated in disgust while placing a rib on his plate.
Terra has now known these three for approximately two months and so far things are looking up.
Terra learned over the time they spent together that the three siblings are from Seroria which makes sense being that both their hair and eye color is brown.
Ross is the older brother at 24 and Ann is the middle child at 21 years old and finally May, who is 19. They have their own place that their parents used to live in until they died. Ross said that they worked in a lab and then one day there was a fire and thats when they died. He said that he was 13 when that happened and that they had to live with their grandparents until he was old enough to earn money and eventually move back into their old place that their grandparents kept for them.
"I'm from Domaria" Terra stated while poking at her potatoes just to the side of the ribs.
"Really! I thought you were born here since, you know, the way you look"
May said with surprise to which Ross smacked the back of her head, making Terra chuckle lightly.
"My grandmother was an Endorian so I guess I took her looks from her." Terra explained, making the three of them nod.
"What about your parents?" Ann asked, looking up at Terra.
"My mother was born in Domaria while my father was born in Nedoria. They left me when I was 6 years old after dumping me off at my aunts house. I lived with my aunt ever since until she went missing when I was 20, I've stayed here ever since."
Terra sighed and got up, grabbing her plate and gently placing it on the counter. Ross cursed at his siblings for asking too many question to which Terra pardoned them.
After that they played a bunch of board games and watched T.V until Ann wanted to go grab some ice-cream. Terra let out a chuckle as she grabbed her keys to the front door and told them that the last one out was gonna pay for it which was ironically, Ann.
During the entire way to get ice-cream Ann was trying to worm her way out of not paying by saying she was broke.
"Ann you literally just got paid!" Ross shouted, pulling her by the ear.
"Are they always like this?" Terra questioned to May who was listening to music. She nodded while letting out a soft smile towards her siblings. Terra then asked her what she was listening to so May let her listen for a bit.
Terra concluded that May liked to listen to music that almost described herself even if she didn't know it. May was a kind person but quite naive in Terra's opinion.
"What about you? What song do you think describes you?"
May asked with a slight sparkle in her eyes.
Song huh?
"Well if I were to pick one I'd say Let It Burn by Red." Terra said while looking ahead of her.
"Why do you say that?" May asked, a look of concern and interest in her eyes. Terra knew why she was concerned though, because a song can tell a lot about a person.
"No reason, its just how I am you know? There was a time when I actually cared for people. A time when I would go out of my way to help someone" Terra chuckled. "I used to think that the world was a good place, a place where people could do what they wanted but I was sorely mistaken. I saw how selfish people can be, I saw that the world is its own ruler and we are just here to accompany it. Its a kill or be killed world even if its not literal and that's what us humans fail to see."
Terra continued but quickly snapped out of it when she saw May look at her with even more concern than before.
"Are you alright Terra?" May asked to which Terra waved her hands in the air with a smile, again fake. "Of course! I just got carried away in my thoughts. Its just ever since my family fell apart I don't know how to control myself sometimes." Terra stated.
Liar
The voice in her head spoke which made Terra curse internally.
"Guys come on!" Ross shouted as he approached the ice-cream stand. Terra never noticed that they were there in such little time but shrugged it off and got herself a vanilla chocolate swirl cone before paying for the rest of them. Ross argued with Terra about Ann paying but Terra waved him off and started walking back home, leaving the three siblings rushing to catch up to her.
On the way home the wind started to pick up but not to the point where it was unpleasant. Terra sighed as the wind cupped her face before wrapping her up in a warm hug.
Terra loved feeling the wind blow her hair back and the feeling of closing her eyes and letting nature do whatever it wanted to her. It reminded her of the times when things were alright in her world. When she was just an innocent little child in a world of millions upon millions.
"I wonder how mom and dad are doing?" Terra thought as she reached out, grabbing onto a bunch of nothingness that surrounded her. Terra will never know the answer but what she can say confidently about the state of her parents is that wherever they are, they are having it better than Terra.
"Do you miss them?" Ross asked, looking at Terra's side profile. He noticed that she had a slender nose and the longest eyelashes he has ever seen. He also noticed how her collarbones stick out from her shirt and he wondered if she was eating enough based on how prominent they were. He brushed that aside and focused on her answer to which she hummed in response.
Ross nodded "me too, my parents I mean. Sure they weren't the best but they were alright" he said, a hint of disappointment emanating from his words.
"What were their names?" Terra asked.
"Kara and Jordan, you?" He fired back which made Terra smile. " I never knew their names" she stated which earned her a sad smile from Ross.Terra turned around and patted Ross on the shoulder as if to tell him that she was okay, but he knew she wasn't. "Lets go yeah?" Terra asked, walking ahead of him with her hands behind her head.
"Yeah" Ross said, a tear almost falling from his eye as he thought of how good Terra was as hiding her feelings. How hard it must have been for her, all alone and yet here she is, still standing.
"Well I guess this is where we call it for today" Terra stated, turning her back to the group of siblings who were waving her goodnight before turning their backs and walking home.
When she walked through her door she took off her shoes and threw herself onto her couch.
Terra never thought that she would have friends in her life but ever since those three popped up they have been nothing but good to her. The only question roaming around Terra's mind is....is this a long lasting friendship? Or is this another one of those times where when she needs them the most that they leave her?
Hey guys its me! I was wondering what you guys thought so far?
