I didn't go to the Matthews' apartment this morning since I woke up late. I was at my locker when I heard Riley talking so I walked over to them.
"Hey guys!" Riley beamed and hugged me tightly
"Bubbles! Where were you this morning?" Riley asked me after pulling away.
"I'm sorry gumdrops, I slept through my alarm. What happened this morning?" I asked.
"I was so worried about this new school year. New school, new people, I didn't think I was going to survive. Not only am I surviving, I'm thriving. I'm like a plant going like this" She does an awkward pose "What was I so worried about?"
Maya looks into the classroom and sees covers me and Riley's eyes.
"Maya what are you doing?" I asked trying to remove her hand from my face.
"What are you doing? Oh, this is too easy. It's Maya. I know because I saw you put your hand over my face. I'll do you now." We remove her hands and Riley goes to cover Maya's eyes.
"Oh, that's not the game." Maya says looking over at me nervously while I looked at her confused. What's in the classroom that she didn't want us to see?
"What's the game?" Riley and I asked
"The game is protect the plant from the bulldozer in the pink sweater. And to protect Deja from the bulldozer's sister." We looked at her confused
"Oh, Maya, bulldozers don't wear pink..." We looked into the classroom to see Missy flirting with Lucas and her sister Melody flirting with Liam. I took a deep breath to calm myself down.
"Huh." Is all Riley says and walks away from the door. "You both okay?"
Maya asked and I just nodded.
"Yeah." Riley slides down until she's sitting against the lockers. Maya and I sat on both sides of her.
"Oh, look what the bulldozers did to youse." Maya says
"There are other girls, in this world." I said with my head on Riley's shoulder while holding her hand.
"There are." Maya answered
"And other girls, like Missy and Melody Bradford, are going to talk to Lucas and Liam." Riley says sadly
"They are." Maya answers again
"We don't like that." Riley and I say in unison
"I know."
"I wish the world was just us three" Riley says and I nodded agreeing.
"Then it is." Maya says

"Sneak attack. December 7th, 1941." Cory says starting class. I don't know why this bothers me so much, Lucas and I aren't dating so I shouldn't make a big deal out of this.. He's not an object I can claim.. he's free for grabs.. I just thought he liked me you know?..
"A date which will live in infamy." Farkle says and Riley lifts her head
"A date? They're going on a date? In Italy?" Riley asked frantically
"No, honey. You're in History." Maya assures her but it flew over her head.
"I'm history?" She asked and I just had to step in
"Okay, put your hand up." I said and lifts Riley's arm.
"Yes, Riley? You have a pertinent observation on the subject of the sneak attack?" Cory asked
"May I be excused?" Maya says and she said something completely different.
"My eyes see my shoes." Maya looks at Cory and points at Melody and Liam
