The Kybuck Clan Volume VI (RWBY X Star Wars)

Chapter Five - The Coming Storm

After learning of Ozpin's origins, Ruby's group and the Kybuck Clan followed the trail Maria had pointed out. They were all soon besieged by a terrible snowstorm. After a long search, they came across an abandoned farm. 

Ruby: I don't get it. The empty towns I've passed through were all damaged or unfinished. But this place looks... fine.

Weiss: Maybe everyone left in a hurry. Before things took a turn?

Katooni then walks to the door and places her hand on it. She closes her eyes and calls upon the Force. 

Katooni: I...I sense something....dark. It's...it's faint. 

Qrow: Hmm. Stay on guard.

Qrow then kicks the door down. As he does so, everyone presses forward with their weapons drawn, readying themselves for a fight. 

Maria: Close the door already! It's cold enough in here as it is.

As Maria enters the farm, Petro uses the Force to move a dresser in front of the door. 

Petro: That should hold. 

Blake: I saw a chimney from the outside. Maybe we could get a fire going?

Weiss: Please. I'll look for some blankets.

Weiss then looks around the house in search for blankets. Katooni continues to feel a lingering darkness present here. Suddenly, a high pitch scream is heard. 

Ruby: Weiss! 

Everyone then heads up stairs to see Weiss quivering in fear as she comes across two decaying bodies laying on a bed. Some time later, a fire is started in the fireplace. Weiss is still shaking from what she had witnessed. Qrow soon entered the room. 

Qrow: It's the same in every house.

Yang: What?

Qrow: Bodies. Every bed in every home. It's like the whole estate just went to sleep and never woke up.

Weiss: Then we're not staying here, right?

Qrow: We don't have a choice. Storm outside's only getting worse. We'd freeze to death before we made it anywhere.

Maria: Well, might as well get comfortable. 

Yang: Yeah, fat chance.

Ruby: Okay, then, let's do something. If this place wasn't abandoned it might still have supplies we could use.

Oscar: Hey, yeah. Maybe even a car.

Qrow: I'll do another sweep of the grounds. No one else goes anywhere alone.

Blake: Yang and I can search the other buildings for vehicles.

Yang: Fine, whatever gets me out of this house.

As everyone begins to search for supplies, the Kybuck Clan remains in the room with Ruby and Weiss as well as Maria and Oscar. 

Petro: How are you holding up, Katooni?

Katooni: I've been better. It's just that everything that's happened.....

Petro: I get what you mean. It's almost as it we were right back at the Jedi Temple. 

Katooni and Petro along with the rest of the Kybuck Clan began to relive their escape at the Jedi Temple. It seemed so long ago that they had escaped the sacking of the Jedi Temple. 

Ruby: Katooni....I wanted to apologize for what happened. I....I was out of line. 

Katooni: You have nothing to be sorry for, Ruby. We've....we've all been through so much. 

Weiss: I still don't understand how you can still stand by Ozpin after he lied to us. 

Huyang: Perhaps some perspective is needed. For some time, I've been trying to access the holonets to find out what happened to the Jedi Order. I....I came across this....dreadful broadcast.

Huyang then activates a holographic transmission of Emperor Palpatine's Declaration of a New Order. 

Palpatine(Broadcast): The remaining Jedi will be hunted down and defeated! Any collaborators will suffer the same fate. These have been trying times, but we have passed the test. The attempt on my life has left me scarred and deformed, but I assure you my resolve has never been stronger. The war is over. The Separatists have been defeated, and the Jedi rebellion has been foiled. We stand on the threshold of a new beginning. In order to ensure our security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire, for a safe and secure society, which I assure you will last for ten thousand years. An Empire that will continue to be ruled by this august body and a sovereign leader chosen for life. An Empire ruled by the majority, ruled by a new constitution!

This was the first time the Kybuck Clan were seeing this. It became clear that Palpatine was responsible for the Jedi's downfall. 

Ruby: Who was that?

Katooni: That was...Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. He...he was the one responsible for the Jedi Purge. 

Petro: That bastard! He was the Sith Lord all this time! 

Huyang: It seems the entire Galaxy has been deceived. Now the Sith have control of the Galaxy. 

Ruby and Weiss took a moment to offer their condolences to the Kybuck Clan. They then left them alone out of respect for their personal feelings. The Kybuck Clan soon took this moment to reflect on all that happened. It seems they were learning more and more about the circumstances behind the Jedi Purge. 

Byph: What now? 

Katooni: We keep going forward. That's....that's all we can do. 

Ganodi: I'm with you all the way, Katooni. But....but it looks like we're at the end of our rope. At this rate, we won't make it to Atlas. 

Katooni: I know it looks bad, but we can't give up! We've gone too far to give up now! If we give up now, then everything we've done will have been in vain.

In that moment, the Kybuck Clan once more overcame their own doubt. What they didn't know was that an unforeseen darkness would soon move against them.
