Chapter Fourteen - A Jedi's Resolve

At the airfield of the Argus Military Base, Katooni and Petro confronted Mordred. Mordred smiled as he activated his Semblance. Both Jedi were prepared as they activated their Lightsabers. 

Mordred: Shall we? 

Petro: Don't think you're getting away this time, Mordred! We're taking you down! 

Mordred: We'll see about that. 

Mordred readied his Double Bladed Spear as he got into a combat stance. Mordred made the first move as he leaps forward, executing a high-velocity attack on the Jedi. Katooni and Petro were able to block his attacks. As they locked blades, Mordred smirks. 

Mordred: Impressive. Most impressive. It seems you've gotten stronger. 

Katooni: You'll find out we're full of surprises!

Katooni and Petro pressed the attack on Mordred. Mordred was able to keep the two Jedi at bay. Soon enough, Katooni and Petro leapt back as Mordred went for an overhead strike. Katooni and Petro looked to each other and nodded. 

Katooni: You sure about this?

Petro: Follow my lead. 

Katooni and Petro threw their Lightsabers at Mordred. Petro used the Force on the Lightsabers to attack Mordred. Seizing the opportunity, Petro seized both Lightsabers and began attacking them. During the melee, Katooni ran behind Petro and jumped over him. Without hesitation, Petro tossed Katooni's Lightsaber to her as she went for an overhead strike which Mordred was able to dodge. 

Mordred: You two are full of surprises today. Had I been a lesser opponent, I would most certainly be dead. 

Katooni: Surrender, Mordred. There's no need for further violence. 

Mordred: You're wasting your breathe, Katooni. Lord Jadus sent me here with a purpose. I am obligated to see that purpose fulfilled. 

Petro: Whatever Jadus wants here, you're going back to him empty handed!

Katooni and Petro once more pressed the attack on Mordred, but were unable to break through his defenses. Katooni began to focus on the Makashi element of her hybrid form while still maintaining the strong defense of Soresu. Petro batters Mordred with the acrobatics of Ataru. As the fight drags on, Katooni moves in to land the finishing strike, but Mordred was quick to parry Katooni's attack and follows through with a kick which knocks her over the edge. 

Petro: Katooni! 

Petro uses the Forge to seize Katooni's Lightsaber as Mordred turns his back on Petro. Mordred closed his eyes as he muttered to himself. He could hear Petro's footsteps coming closer as he tightly gripped his weapon. Mordred quickly turns around just in time to block Petro's attacks. Mordred kept up a strong defense as Petro battered him with the two Lightsabers. Soon enough, the two locked blades. 

Mordred: Is this the best a Jedi has to offer? I'm sorely disappointed. 

Petro: Don't count me out just yet! I'm just getting warmed up!

As Petro said this, the ground beneath them began to rumble. Both turn their attention to a large mech rising from the mountain. 

Petro: That's not good! 

Petro moved in to try and finish the fight, but Mordred maintained his form as they locked blades once again. 

Mordred: That mech is the least of your worries, my friend! You should be more focused on the present threat right in front of you! 

As the two pressed against each other, Petro glanced behind Mordred to see Katooni climbing up. She glances over to Petro and nods. Petro smiles at Mordred. 

Petro: You know something, Mordred? I think you're right! Though I think it's time you followed your own advice!

As Petro said this, he used the Force to push him away as he tosses Katooni's Lightsaber in the air. He backflips up and grabs her Lightsaber. Mordred barely had time to react as he blocked the strikes of both Katooni and Petro. Mordred soon found himself on the backfoot as he was attacked from both sides. 

Petro: Had enough?

Mordred: Not quite, my friend. Do not assume victory until I fall. 

Mordred soon pushed back against the Jedi, putting them on the defense. As the fight dragged on, all fighters showed no sign of backing down. Eventually, the threat of the mech becomes too dangerous to ignore. 

Katooni: Petro....

Petro: I know, Katooni. 

Mordred: It seems we're at yet another impasse. I wonder what will you do? 

Katooni and Petro quickly found themselves in a difficult position. They needed to stop the mech to protect the airship, but they had no way of getting away from Mordred without having to fight him. Suddenly, whirring could be heard nearby. Before anyone could react, the Ebon Hawk swooped in and hovered in front of them. 

Petro: Looks like Ganodi was able to get the Ebon Hawk flying! Talk about evening the odds!

Katooni: Surrender, Mordred. It's over. 

Mordred: It would appear that we have to conclude our duel for another time.

Without hesitation, Mordred began running. The Ebon Hawks was quick to follow Mordred. Immediately, the Ebon Hawk fired on Mordred. One of the blaster shots hits the ground in front of Mordred. The force of the explosion knocks Mordred off the base. Katooni and Petro rush to the edge to find him gone. The only thing left was the shattered remains of his spear. 

Petro: Something tells me this won't be the last time we see him. 

Katooni: We better get on board. Weiss and Maria are going to need our help!

With that, Katooni and Petro boarded the Ebon Hawk. The Ebon Hawk quickly took off and prepared to aid Weiss and Maria in their struggle against the mech.
