The Kybuck Clan Volume VI (RWBY X Star Wars)

Chapter Eight - Dead End

As they reached Argus, the Kybuck Clan and Team RWBY along with Professor Huyang, Lord Scourge, Qrow and Maria make their way into the house where Jaune and the rest of Team JNPR were staying. Upon being reunited with their friends, Team JNPR were happy to see their friends. 

Jaune: It's good to see you all again! 

Ruby: I told you we'd be fine, Jaune! We ran into some bumps on the way, but we're still here.

Oscar: So, where have you guys been staying?

Before Jaune could say this, a woman with a striking resemblance to Jaune enters the room with a baby boy in her arms. 

???: There you are!

Jaune: Hey, Saph.

It didn't take long for Ruby to piece together that this woman was Jaune's older sister. 

Ruby: I can't believe I'm meeting your sister! I have so many questions.

Nora: Oh, I can give you the rundown later!

Jaune: Will you guys knock it off?

Saphron: What? I love telling stories about my baby brother.

Jaune: I am not a baby! That is a baby.

As Jaune points at the baby boy, Yang and Weiss immediately fawn over the baby boy. The baby then points excitedly to Professor Huyang. The droid chuckles as he approaches him. He then glances over to Saphron. 

Huyang: May I? 

Saphron: Go right ahead. 

Huyang then lifts up the baby and cradles him in his arms. The baby knocks on Huyang's droid head in curiosity. 

Huyang: How are we today, my little friend?

Huyang then begins to hum a song to amuse the boy. Saphron was impressed at how quickly the baby warmed up to him. 

Saphron: I've never seen my Adrian warm up to a stranger so quickly. 

Katooni: Professor Huyang is used to dealing with children. 

Blake: So Saphron, you're the only Arc living here?

Saphron: Yep! Moved the second I could. Jaune and I are the only two living away from home. I guess he just wanted to be like his big sis.

As Saphron says this, a dark haired woman with glasses enters the house with bags of groceries. 

Saphron: Everyone, this is my wife, Terra Cotta.

Everyone kindly greeted Saphron's wife. Terra was then approached by Huyang who was still cradling Adrian. 

Huyang: You must be Mrs. Arc! A pleasure to make your acquaintance! 

As everyone began to settle down in the house, they begin to converse with each other. 

Katooni: Thank you for your hospitality. We are honored. 

Saphron: Of course, we're happy to house Huntsmen and Huntresses.

Terra: You all risk so much to keep people like us safe. It's the least we can do. Especially for such an elite Huntsman like yourself. Although, I will say I was surprised to learn you had students helping you. Is that even...legal?

Qrow didn't pay attention to the question much to the annoyance to his niece who elbows him. 

Qrow: Uh, of course. Think of it as an extended training mission. Trust me, I was a professor. Even went to the same academy as them. Let me tell ya, these kids are way better than we were at their age. Well, not better than me specifically, but a lot of students...

Ruby: Shut up, there's food!

As everyone began to eat, Lord Scourge observed as Terra's scroll began to ring. 

Terra: Excuse me, I'll be right back.

As Terra exits the room, Lord Scourge took note of this. 

Blake: Is everything okay?

Saphron: Oh, yeah, it will be. Terra's a technician for the town's relay tower. Unfortunately, the military's radar system is also housed there. Guess what's been on the fritz lately and who's getting falsely blamed.

Terra: Me.

Saphron: So, what's your plan for tomorrow?

Ruby: Well...We're trying to make our way to Atlas. We'll probably start with the military base.

 Jaune: So, we kind of already tried that, and... it didn't go... super great.

Yang: Come on, it couldn't be that bad...

The next day, the Kybuck Clan and Team RWBY along with the rest of the group walk up to the Atlesian Military base on the island off the coast of Argus, only for the gates to abruptly close on them before they could even enter.

Petro: So much for that. 

Yang: Come on! You didn't even hear us out!

Nubuck Guard 1: Our orders are clear: The Mistral-Atlas border is closed!

Nubuck Guard 2: Please! 

Nubuck Guard 1: Have a good day!

Scourge: This is a waste of time. While we waste time here, Darth Jadus and Salem grow stronger. 

Katooni: We will not force our way into Atlas. That will only make things worse. 

As Qrow points out Weiss Schnee, the guards rush to fetch the commanding officer. Soon enough, the military base's commanding officer makes her presence known. The guards introduce her as Caroline Cordovin. 

Ruby: H-hello! Miss, uh, Cordovin. My name is Ruby Rose, and I was wondering if you would hear us out about....

Cordovin: I've already heard what your other little friends had to say, Miss Rose.

Katooni: We need to get to Atlas. 

Cordovin: Out of the question. You civilians are clearly incapable of comprehending the importance of our mission here in Argus. So allow me to say this slowly, with smaller words: This base, that relay tower, the very safety of Argus are all gifts from the glorious Kingdom of Atlas! And it is my duty to uphold them, as only I have the wit and tenacity for such a task.

Scourge: Ignorant fool. If you knew what was coming, then you would be on your knees begging for us to help you. 

Cordovin: I'd watch that tone if I were you. 

Scourge: Your threats mean nothing to me. 

Lord Scourge moved towards Cordovin, but Katooni stops him. 

Katooni: Enough. We will find another way. 

With that, the group reached another dead end. They would need to find another way to continue on their journey. But a solution would soon present itself.
