We met up with Mrs. Miller at a quarter til five.
"So, any horses you found wreath bidding for today"
"Not from me" Pony groaned, "Why don't you ask Alex over here"
"Very well then..." she replied, you could hear the shift in her voice. "Alex?"
"I... eh-- I found a couple of interest"
"Lead the way" She commanded with a wave of her hand.
"What?"
"I'd like to see the little friend we're going to be bidding on"
"Well, okay" I stammered a bit, feeling unsure.
I lead the way past rows and rows of stalls until I found the exact one I was hoping for. "Here we are" I announced, looking through the bars.
"Really?" she scoffed. "That's the one?"
"That's him, that's my James Brownie Funky Jackhammer," I said, proudly.
"Well, okay then"
"Oh, we've also found a couple of donkeys" Pony piped up.
"Donkeys?"
"Yes"
"Well, let's go see'em"
"Come on then, hurry up" I called walking ahead,
"We're coming," they said, walking faster than their normal passe.
I lead both Pony and Mrs. Miller back to where I found the donkeys, especially my favorites.
"There they are!" I breathed out a sigh of relief. Walking up to the family-sized stall, reaching a hand into pet the littlest one.
"Mrs. Miller meet Spieltoe, he's the papa. Greybelle, she's the mamma and Nestor is their little baby"
"Oh..." she exclaimed wide-eyed. "Man, they live in a dump" she exclaimed,
"So, do we have another bid?" I asked, hoping for a good answer.
"Well..." she sighed, looking around. "If this isn't a cry for help then I don't know what is"
I smiled, as we walked to the ring. I prayed desperately for a winner to show in my favor as the auction went underway.
