Anniversary

It'd been four months since Steve's pneumonia. Bucky had started dating a new girl he'd met in a carnival, Betty. She was blonde with green eyes and wore only shades of pink or purple. She was very beautiful and Bucky enjoyed the time they spent together. But at the end of the day the only thing he really looked forward to was seeing Steve, holding him and kissing him softly and looking at those eyes.

It was a wonderful spring morning. The sky was clear blue and the sun was shining. It wasn't too hot because of a cold breeze but it wasn't too cold either. Bucky woke up by the sound of voices in the kitchen. He put on a plain shirt and a pair of grey pants and left his room

"So how is Doris?" George asked as he saw his son emerge from his room

"Doris? Who's Doris?" Winnie looked at Bucky

"Well good morning to you too" Bucky sat across his father "Um she is fine I guess. I don't know we haven't talked since the breakup" he turned to his mother "Doris is the girl I met at school. We were going out but broke up about four months ago"

Winnie nodded and sat beside her husband "oh what a shame. We didn't even meet her. Why did you two end it?"

"Well let's just say her outer beauty didn't reflect her inner one. Besides breaking up with her had its benefits. I came close with the most wonderful person in the world" he said.

"Oh who is she tell me about her" Winnie said joyfully

"Yes James who is she?" His father asked with a questioning look

Of course he meant Steve but he couldn't say that to his parents. Not since last time

"Her name is Betty. We met at the carnival and we've been going out for about a week now" he cut a slice of bread and cheese and started eating

"Oh I see you didn't waste any time" Winnie smiled

"Bucky has a girlfriend?" a cute voice asked. All three turned around and saw Becky, still in her pijamas

"I see the phrase good morning no longer exists in this family" Bucky hugged his ten-year old sister "what do you want for breakfast?"

"Cake" she girl sat down

"We don't have cake Becks. We have bread, cheese and ma's marmalade" Bucky poured her some milk in a glass

The girl frowned and sighed "bread and marmalade then" she saw her brothers face and added "please"

Bucky smiled and prepared her breakfast.

"Well since we are all here" Winnie started "your father and I have some news"

"We are not moving are we?" Bucky spoke before she could continue

"No no we aren't moving honey. But there is going to be a small change around here" she looked at her husband "James, Becca I would like to inform you that in about 7 months you will have a baby brother or sister" she smiled at her children

"What?" Both kids asked simultaneously

"Really?" Bucky asked "that's great ma congratulations"

"I want a sister" Becca took a sip from her milk "boys are boring"

"Why do you say that love? Bucky is a boy" at that point George pretended to choke on his coffee but both Winnie and Bucky ignored him and Becky didn't get the message

"Exactly" replied Becky " I already have a brother. Besides Bucky says he is too old to play with dolls. Not that he played with them when he was younger but still. I want a sister that I can play girl games with"

"Well I don't care what the baby is. As long as I don't have to change the diapers" Bucky finished his slice and put his plate in the sink

"When the baby is here James both you and your sister are going to help. And no is not an answer I will accept" his father picked the newspaper up and started reading "Ah Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow are dead" he read the headline "apparently the were ambushed somewhere in Louisiana by lawmen and were killed"

"Who were they?" Becky looked at her father with a face full of curiosity

"The used to rob banks" her father replied apathetically

"Like Robin Hood?" She asked

"More like...half Robin Hood" her brother joked

"What? How can someone be half Robin Hood?" She turned to Bucky

"Well see they stole from the banks but they didn't give it to the poor" he smiled "well I'm done with breakfast. I'm going out" he stood up

"Where to?" His father looked at him and listed one eyebrow

"I'm going to greet the Rogers and then I'm meeting Betty. Would you like me to give you my whole day's plan or is the interrogation over?" He spat at his father and walked out of the apartment

After a couple of seconds he knocked on Steve's and Sarah's door

"Good morning Bucky" Sarah greeted the boy before she even opened the door

"How did you know it was me?" He asked confused

"Well who else would it be at 9 pm?" She smiled at him "come in we just finished breakfast would you like a slice of cake?"

"No thanks mrs Rogers I just ate" he walked inside

"Hey Steve look who's here" Sarah pointed at Bucky

" 'morning jerk" Steve waved at his friend

Bucky punched Steve slightly in the upper arm and Steve pretend to be hurt

"Well I'll go get ready. Bucky I'm going to the market does your mother need anything?" She walked to her bedroom

"Um I don't know. Do you want me to ask her?" He sat on the table beside Steve

"No darling I'll pass by and ask her myself when I leave" she closed the door of the room and started changing

The moment they knew they were alone Bucky leaned forward and kissed Steve softly in the lips

" 'morning Rogers" he murmured softly

"Now that's how you properly greet someone" Steve smiled

"This how you're going out?" Bucky looked at him

"I'm going out?" Steve asked his boyfriend

"Yea you idiot. We are going to Coney Island. It's our third month anniversary. Stevie don't tell me you forgot?" Bucky teased

"I plead my fifth amendment rights" Steve laughed

"Come on punk let's go. Oh I just remembered. I told my parents I was meeting with Betty so if they ask you known...don't mention anything" Bucky stood up

"You know we can't keep hiding forever" Steve followed

"But we can try" Bucky opened the door and both boys walked out

The day was exactly as Bucky had imagined. Perfect. Well almost perfect. They went to Coney Island, the rode the cyclone, Steve puked his guts out and they returned home around noon

"Today was great Bucky" Steve hugged him

"I'm glad you enjoyed it doll" Bucky leaned for a kiss but quickly pulled back when he saw his father entering the building

"What is it?" Steve asked

Bucky gestured at his father and Steve understood immediately

"So did you have fun with Betty" he asked a bit louder

"Yea. We are meeting again the day after tomorrow" Bucky replied hoping that his father had bought the act

"Oh so I take it the date went well. Anyway I should get going ma is cooking dinner and I want to help her. See you tomorrow Bucky" they hugged and went their seperate ways
