Patrick's pov
we arrive at the hospital, ellen is still unconscious. what the hell did jill do to her is all i am thinking. my lawyer is blowing up my phone wanting me to come back so i can finally get divorced. i want to go back so it can finally be over with but i just have to stay here.
they take her in an x-ray machine and see that 3 of her ribs are broken. and they come and tell me that she needs surgery to repair them and fix anything else that could be messed up. i sign the consent forms and tell her i love her and then they take her back and i go sit in the waiting room.
my lawyer keeps blowing up my phone begging me to come back. i get pissed off and just go. i take a cab and go back to the court house and they finally finalize the divorce and then i leave and go back to the hospital.
a few hours later the doctor comes in the waiting room
"every thing looks good on her right now, the surgery was very successful and she and they baby are both perfectly fine. she's in the icu right now if you wanna go and see her" he said smiling and then leaving
did i just hear that right? baby? i didn't know she was pregnant. i didn't know she could get pregnant at her age i thought- well never mind, it obviously doesn't matter now. we are having a baby. i sit there shocked for a minute
i get to her room and see her laying there wide awake, probably thinking she's alone. i knock on her door "can i come in?" i say smiling at her. she turns her head to look over at me "yeah come in" she says smiling too. i walk in and sit on the edge of her bed and hold her hand, she looked at me with worry in her face. i can tell she's worried about the baby or if it survived or anything. "the baby is okay el" i say and kiss her cheek. she starts crying "i didn't want you to find out this way.. oww" shes in pain because of her ribs. "baby its okay, i'm just glad that you are okay. i'm glad i know now" i say wiping her tears away. "i'm guessing you wanna keep it?" "yeah i do" she says smiling "good because i do too" i say smiling and kissing her softly.
man we are gonna be parents, kinda late in life but that's okay, we can do it. i'm excited to finally be a dad.
