When Doyoung had allowed Jieun to go with Renjun, she had wished her cousin had said no. As she sat there now, staring at Renjun's beautiful side profile as he worked, she was glad that he had said yes.

Jieun played with her fingers in her lap, recalling the feeling of Renjun's around them. His hand was warm but not clammy, fitting perfectly with hers.

I wish it didn't have to be this way, Jieun thought as he eyes moved to the Phoenix on the back of Renjun's leather jacket. I wish he wasn't one, then maybe this could be possible.

Jieun heard Renjun put his paintbrush down and met his eyes as he turned his head. "Something wrong, you look upset again."

Jieun shook her head, trying to come up with a lie. "I'm just tired, that's all."

"Oh. I can take you home then." Renjun said, about to stand up but Jieun stopped him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"No, I'm fine. I want to spend some more time here." Jieun told him, giving the male a reassuring smile. Renjun seemed hesitant but slowly nodded his head, picking up his paintbrush again.

Art was something that had always fascinated Jieun, something she never really had the talent for. Jieun was upset as her mother was an amazing artist, but unfortunately, Jieun didn't have the genes.

Renjun on the other hand, it was like he had hands of an angel. The way each stroke blended in with the piece had Jieun mesmerized, and it was hard for her to believe that Renjun was really coming up with it all right in front of her.

"How do you do that?" Jieun exclaimed, unable to contain her thoughts.

Instead of being offended though, Renjun gave her a small smile. "Want to try?"

Jieun immediately shook her head. "I'll only ruin your piece, that's a bad idea."

"Not if I guide you." Renjun argued, moving his stool so it was a little further back from the canvas. He scooted back, widening his legs before patting the small empty space on his stool. "Come here."

"Me?" Jieun said, feeling flustered. She then realized how dumb the question was.

"Mhmm, we'll do it together though. I do trust you but I also need to hand this in."

Every bone in her body screamed no but the way Renjun was looking at her made Jieun slide off her stool, slowly make her way to him. When she got there, Renjun puller her closer to him, positioning her so that she was standing between his legs, his arms around her as he rested his chin on her shoulder.

Jieun's heart felt like it was running a marathon and she thought it would explode as Renjun placed the paintbrush in her hand before wrapping his around hers.

"Ready?" Renjun whispered, sending shivers down Jieun's back. She nodded and Renjun lifted their hands, guiding Jieun's as they painted strokes together.

Jieun slowly eased into it the more they painted, relaxing into Renjun's body. On the other hand, Renjun seemed pretty focused as they painted, explaining each step.

"The sky is the hard part." Renjun explain, his soft voice serving as music to Jieun's ears. "You need to be careful with the colours here, as it sets the mood of the painting. The wrong blend will steer the painting into a completely different direction."

Jieun heard Renjun inhale deeply, as if he was stressed. They were definitely working slower than if Renjun was working on his own, but he didn't complain about it one bit.

"Do you want to take a break?" Jieun suggested, feeling how exhausted Renjun was.

"Good idea." Renjun said, and he removed his hand from hers, letting her place the paintbrush down.

Jieun was going to step away but Renjun had other plans as he decided to pull her closer to him, hugging her from behind. She had no idea what to do as she stood there awkwardly.

"You're really talented." Jieun decided to tell him as she stared at the painting. Somehow in that short period of time, Renjun had created a masterpiece, even though it was still incomplete. "I grew up with art yet you amaze me."

"You did?" Renjun asked, staring at his piece from behind her. Jieun nodded, playing with Renjun's hands that were clasped over her stomach.

"My mother was an artist." Jieun confessed. "I spent a lot of time watching her paint."

"I have to admit, I'm jealous." Renjun chuckled, his body vibrating against hers as he laughed. "I learned to appreciate art by myself. Everyone in my family wanted me to be a doctor like my sister."

"Jiayi's a doctor?"

"Mhmm, the best medic the Phoenixes had ever had." Renjun told her. "Big shoes that I will never fill."

"Don't say that." Jieun said, immediately turning to face Renjun. Her eyes widened as she realized how close they were and considering how Renjun flinched, he must have been surprised too.

Jieun gulped, doing her best to keep her cool as she took each of Renjun's hands in her own.

"Being a doctor is great, but you're special in your own way. It doesn't matter what you do, you don't have to always be the best. Just be happy, that's all that matters." Jieun told him, giving his hands a squeeze.

Jieun watched as Renjun relaxed, slowly taking her words in. Soon, a smile spread onto his face and Jieun felt herself relax as well, beginning to feel comfortable in Renjun's presence.

"That goes for you as well, Jieun." Renjun said, his words being ones that Jieun didn't expect to hear. "I won't ask you what it is, but I can tell there's a lot on your mind right now. You shouldn't think too much and just let it go, following what feels right. Do what makes you happy, not what others tell you to do."

If only it were so easy, Jieun thought but as she stared back into Renjun's sparkling eyes, it was as if everything around them faded away.

Jieun decided to follow Renjun's advice and let go for the night, removing her hands from Renjun's and placing them on his shoulders. He must have had similar thoughts as one of his hands found itself on her waist while the other one went to her face, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

It was clear that they were both stuck in a trance as Renjun's hand lingered on the base of her chin, holding Jieun's face in his hand. Jieun slowly stepped forward, closing the distance between them.

Just do what you feel is right, Jieun thought as her focused shifted down to his lips and could tell that Renjun had done the same with her, slowly pulling the girl closer to him.

Jieun could tell sparks were flying between them as their noses brushed, both of them breathing slowly as they nervously closed the distance between them.

Follow your gut, Kim Jieun.

Jieun closed her eyes as she continued moving forward, steadying herself as she held Renjun's shoulders.

Soon, she felt Renjun's soft lips against hers as they finally connected through a kiss that they had been longing since they first laid eyes on one another.
