"so how did you manage to come tonight?" y/n asked, grabbing the lower half of the bottle to pour herself some wine. her father didn't mind; she was turning twenty in three months anyway.

him coming tonight was a surprise, so she didn't teleport him here with her quirk.

her hand reached out for another slice of pizza, hungrily bringing it to her mouth and sinking her teeth into the crust first. they were currently back at her hotel room. a simple large pepperoni pizza and a fine bottle of white wine to side it with.

"i took my car to the airport, then a flight. it was long but extremely worth it. it felt great to see you up there. you looked really happy." he confessed.

she lightly smiled at his remark, still trying to get used to receiving compliments from a fatherly figure. they both looked out the window.

the gorgeous view of the city was displayed right in front of them. the numerous lights from the skyscrapers, the traffic and the houses below them shining so bright. the full moon clearing up the sky, the clouds covering up the twinkling stars above them. toshinori stared out the window in thought.

"you should come back, y/n." he sighed, now taking a more serious tone. his gaze reverted back to her features, just now noticing the very subtle bags under her eyes. "think of it as a vacation." he then added.

he grabbed his glass and took a sip of the acidic wine before setting it back down on the table, the smell of fruitiness still lingering in his nose. he nodded in approval.

"crisp." he muttered. y/n chuckled. she didn't even bother to ask what it meant. he looked up at his beautiful daughter once again.

"come back." he softly said.

she'd be lying if she hadn't thought about going back home recently. lately, she's been thinking about every life choice she had made up until now. like a game of chess, she replayed every single one of her choices in her head; cursing herself for making the wrong move, and praising herself for making the right ones.

moving to america at 16 was an impulsive decision. she didn't even say goodbye. she left. no warning whatsoever. he called, multiple times, thousands even, but she never answered. and she had the nerve to contact him years later, like nothing ever happened.

he didn't deserve the way his daughter treated him.

"i'm sorry." y/n apologized, resting her head on the palm of her head. she blew upwards, getting one of her frizzy curls out of her face.

a look of puzzlement crossed yagi's face. she cleared her throat, sitting back up and fixing her posture.

"i never really apologized for what i did back then, it was wrong of me and i'm sorry." she elucidated, eating the remaining piece of pizza she had left.

she gave up on her dream of becoming a hero right before starting her first year at u.a.

being a singer was a close second and— don't get her wrong— she absolutely loves it, but sometimes, she just can't help but wonder what would've happened if she stayed. if she had not cowardly ran away from home.

"it's not too late you know?" he implied, cocking an eyebrow.

y/n looked up at her dad, a reassuring smile was plastered on his face. she blinked. she wouldn't be surprised if he had ended up being able to read her thoughts all along.

"what do you mean?" she asked.

"i know you're thinking about being a hero again..."

y/n wasn't sure where he was going with this, but of course, he was right. she raised her glass, muttering out a small cheers before gulping down the rest of the wine. she now knew what her dad meant by crisp.

"what i'm trying to say is that i could train you, just like we did back then. i can make you catch up with my former students. your hero dream isn't completely down the drain. you already have the basic combat skills, your teleportation and your manip—"

"— no. not that one. i stopped using it a long time ago, you know that." she sternly said. the room fell silent.

he looked away from her, then down at his shoes. he wanted to say something, but the guilt held his tongue. y/n's gaze danced around the hotel room, avoiding his at all cost. she could hear her heartbeat, intense and unbalanced.

that quirk remained unspoken for multiple reasons.

a sudden succession of shrill rings cut the silence. toshinori jumped up startled, peering towards the phone to hesitantly pick it up.

"yes? ah, shota. i'm with her, yes. good, i hope so. in the afternoon. yes, the day before the reunion, yes. great. see you tomorrow. goodbye." he brung the phone down and slouched into the chair.

"leaving so soon? we barely had time to catch up." y/n pouted.

"i wish we still had time to be together. there's so much i have to tell you about my super cool concerts." she boasted, getting up to place the leftover pizza in the hotel room mini fridge.

"so come back to musutafu with me. you'll be able to see your uncle again. plus, you'll meet eri and everyone else. you'll be able to talk about your concerts all you want." he insisted, getting up to clear the table.

y/n thought about it. she wanted to. she wanted to see aizawa again. she wanted to meet eri. she wanted to talk and befriend the students, now pro-heroes, that she was supposed to spend three years being a normal high school girl in u.a. with. but she hesitated.

what if she wants to stay back there? forever? she would leave everyone here behind. her music producer, her agent, her manager, her whole dance team. she couldn't... could she? she knew they would go everywhere she goes, but what about their families? their friends? what about her friends here? she didn't want to repeat what she did 3 years ago. she was done running away. she—

"— you have got to stop doing that." yagi spoke up, interrupting her thoughts once again.

y/n closed her eyes, lightly chuckling to herself. there was no way he couldn't read minds. he made his way to her, resting both his hands on her shoulders.

"if you don't like it there, it's okay, my child. we'll drop the whole thing. don't you at least want to know who your classmates were?"

she does.

"okay. i'll come with you." she answered on an impulse. it was probably the wine.

maybe musutafu was the answer to all of her questions. she would go there, meet everyone, train and find out if being a hero is what she wants or not. easy.

toshinori was filled with joy. he jumped in excitement and let out a victory laugh before it shortly got ruined by him coughing up blood. y/n burst out laughing, rushing over to grab tissues.

he knew his daughter wasn't going to regret it.
