They followed Echo and didn't make a single noise, knowing Echo would get frustrated and start lecturing them. Then classic Riker starts laughing out of nowhere. Echo looked back and glared at him, which caused him to stop laughing.
"Echo do be mad though," Riker whispered to Blake.
"Yeah, I know," Blake whispered back.
"But she does have a point, you know," Nyra interrupted their conversation. "We have just been talking and standing there instead of doing our job," she continued.
"True that," Myles joined in the conversation.
"Yeah," Riker whispered. "Don't you wonder how we got our superpowers?" he asked.
"Yeah, I do I think we got superpowers from that piece of paper," Nyra replied.
Echo looked back at them, but they just pretended like nothing happened and went back to their conversation.
"I think so too," Myles whispered.
"You know I can hear you guys right?" Echo asked.
"We do now," Blake said.
"Did I tell you to talk?" Echo asked.
"I mean you did ask-," Echo interrupted Riker, "Silence."
They stopped talking and kept on following Echo like she was the boss. Once they reached where the loud crashing noises come, they were confused. There wasn't no damage to anything, so where was the loud crashing noise coming from?
"I'm confused," Blake said.
"Yeah, me too," Nyra said.
"Guys don't be dumb, Illusion Master can create illusions they don't calm him Illusion Master just because they want too," Echo said.
"Yeah, you're right," Myles said.
"But if he is creating that sound, then he should be close by, right?" Riker asked.
"Yeah, unless he set a timer on something that created a loud sound that was-," "Supposed to distract us," Echo finished Nyra's sentence.
"Guys," Riker said, looking at the other side of the city burning.
"We're too late," Echo said, her eyes widening.
"I'm sure we can still fix it," Blake said, trying to think positive.
"How? None of us have a power to return everything back to normal," Echo asked, tears stinging her eyes.
"Echo, don't cry, there's still hope," Blake said.
"I can't believe we failed," Echo said, sitting next to a wall. She hugged her knees and put her head down.
"Echo," Nyra called. She is worried for her friend and felt guilty. "I don't want to give you false hope and tell you everything is going to be ok, but I will tell you this the more we wait the more people are going to be controlled and everything is going to be destroyed," Nyra said put a hand on Echo shoulder.
"Thank you Nyra, but I can't do it," Echo said, looking up tears threatening to come out.
"Yes, you can! Echo, you're the reason everyone is still here. You are the glue to our group. Without you we probably would be arguing with each other and we probably would not be friends anymore. Echo we need you all of us you might not think that be it's the truth," Nyra asserted.
"Really?" Echo asked, looking at her friends in front of her with worried faces. They nodded in response and Echo smiled, knowing that her friends cared about her.
"You should be our team leader," Nyra added.
"Oh, come on!" Myles shouted.
"Sorry, not sorry," Nyra said, giggling.
"It's fine," Myles said, crossing his arms and rolling his eyes.
"Come on Echo we need you to lead us," Blake said putting his arm out next to her. Echo smiled, grabbed his arm, and he pulled her up.
"Thanks, but there is not going to be a team leader," Echo said.
"Fine with me," Blake said.
"Ok guys, we should go," Riker said.
"Yeah, lets kick Illusion Master's butt," Echo said, leading the way. They walked into the other side of the city, burning. Myles used his powers to burn out the fire.
"Guess my powers are handy after all," Myles said, nodding.
"Yeah, lucky you," Riker said, looking a little sad.
"It's ok Riker I'm sure your powers will come in handy," Nyra assured him.
Riker gave her a brief smile to thank her, and she smiled back. They were sketched out how everything was quiet now. There was no sign of Illusion Master or his minions.
"Something feels off," Blake said.
"I know everything is too... quiet," Myles said.
"I feel like Illusion Master is planning something big, real big," Echo said, looking around the city for any sign of movement.
"Maybe," Nyra said.
"We'll just have to wait and see," Myles said.
