07: cherry trees

"Welcome back everyone! I hope you all found just the right spots to set up your new homes."

Cherry and Poncho smiled.

"And now with that taken care of, we can now move on to more serious business." He declared.

"Like throwing an island-warming welcome party! We'll have it right here in the plaza with a roaring campfire."

This seemed fun.

"Timmy ,Cherry , Tommy , and Poncho can set up things here in the plaza."

"Meanwhile, Y/N and I will work on gathering firewood and perhaps a little snack!"

I nodded in agreement.

After the animals went off to clean around, talk and organize, I went to talk to Tom about what we needed to do to set up the campfire.

He said that we needed roughly 10 tree branches, and that i'd have to look for them scattered around the island.

I went off and shook some trees to get branches to fall off, it worked like a charm. While I was picking them up, I scooted over to the nearby river. I sat down beside a cherry tree and admired the peaceful scenery. There were lots of overgrown weeds in the grass. There was a beach near the river with huge rocks. There were cherry trees surrounding the other side, and there were big tall hills. I've always liked natural life and I've always wanted to go outside and explore mountains, lakes, deserts, beaches, anything there is so explore. And now I'm finally doing it.. But this didn't feel.. normal.

It felt... unreal. Really, I was talking to some animals on some unusual island. But, It felt good.

Then it hit me. I remember the weird language I was hearing from the staff room and in the plane. I obviously wasn't hearing it here, because I could understand what all the animals were saying, it was in English! But once again, it had that weird feeling. I started panicking.. What if I'm going insane? What if they're speaking the weird language and now I can understand it? What if they gave me drugs on the plane? What if I'M an animal now too?

I threw my head back aggressively against the cherry tree I was sitting below.

"Ow!"

A cherry fell down on my head and then onto my lap. It looked delicious.. It was bright red and shiny and... juicy... and...wow...

I realized that my overthinking might've been because I haven't eaten in... 10 hours?!

I couldn't resist it anymore, I took a huge bite out of the cherry. 

I felt like I took a bite out of something they'd serve in heaven.. it tasted insanely good, sweet, juicy.. I couldn't even find the words to describe it. The natural food here was like no other. These cherries soak up all the happiness from the sun that shines on them and when you eat them all that amazing happiness goes into you!

I felt instantly refreshed. I got back up, picked up the branches and searched for more of them.

I even picked up some cherries for the animals on the way.

I approached Tom Nook.

"Ohーgood, good! It seems like you've managed to collect up the tree branches, hm? Incredible! I'll take what we need off your hands."

He picked up the branches and analyzed them.

"Yes, yes! That should be plenty for our campfire. You made quick work of that!" He cheered. "I'm quite glad that I'll be sharing this desolate island with such a hard worker, oho!"

He said in glee.

"And speaking of surviving on a desolate island, our next task should be to check for something to snack on. I've noticed that there are cherry trees here, so I'd like it if you collected some of these delicious ch-" I handed him the cherries that I had already picked up.

"...Oh, what's this? You've already collected enough cherries for everyone?" He said while inspecting them.

"Well, well! I knew you were the right one for the job, but I didn't know you'd be this amazing!" He said while chuckling.

"Thank you once again!" He let me off for a break and to explore the island while he set up stuff. This was great!
