𝗔𝗖𝗡𝗛: 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘

12: slumber

When I opened my eyes, it was around 7:30 pm. It was getting really dark. Coincidentally, as soon as I woke up, the wind started picking up speed. The little tents we've set up were weak, and they could fly away! I got up and jogged towards my house- I meant tent. As I passed the plaza, I heard a voice.

By now I was really worried about the tents. Will it survive the wind? What if it rips apart when I'm sleeping? For now, The wind seemed to be just fine, just a strong breeze. When I got to my tent, it was dancing with the wind, whipping it and tearing it off the ground. All my belongings were inside, well, just my suitcase and my sleeping bag. But, that's still something, and the only stuff I have!

The whipping of the tent got more intense as the wind picked up. WHOOSH! What I feared for did happened! The tent broke off from the nails that made it stand, and was only still resisting by the one corner that was still holding. I was in complete panic and caught off guard. Scrambling to grab what I could, and trying to hold the tent together, I heard a loud grunt from the distance.

"GRAH! UNH!" I couldn't figure out who it was, nor could I figure out what they were doing. The grunts turned into a yelling. The yelling got closer, as if it were running towards me.

"....aaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!" I immediately jumped. "STOP MESSING WITH HER! TAKE THAT!" The creature yelled. They attempted to hit the wind. "AH! OH.. AAA... I'M FLYING AWAY! AAAAAAAAAA-"

I managed to see the thing and grab it. It was all along!

"O-oh! Hey there... Y/N! I was just using my weight training skills to fight the evil wind attacking our tents, and since you're the island representative, you deserve the help form the strongest cub on the island!" I chuckled. "Are you alright?" I asked him. I turned around to see his tent and half of it was completely destroyed, sitting flat down. "Uhh.. The wind kinda blew your tent off..." I said in a shy voice. "Oh, who cares! Me n my big muscles will get it up back together in no time! Meanwhile... your tent... uh-" He replied.

"Yeah, I was just about to sleep... Now what?" I said. I glanced at the tent that now completely broke off. It was just one nail holding it down, and I wouldn't be surprised if it let go and flew away. "It's no problem! You have your stuff, and as soon as this storm ends, we can fix it together in no time!" He exclaimed. I stared at him for awhile, I was surprised this small cub was nice enough to let me stay at his house, but I remembered how much he trains and weight lifts... His house might be a mess!

"Yes, ..., thanks for the offer. I guess I have no choice..I'll stay!" I smiled weakly. "Great, come this way then, this wind isn't doing good for you." He guided me to his tent, which was not too far away. I was carrying my sleeping bag and my untidy bag full of the only things I had. He  struggled to open the tent opening as the wind was trying to break in. When he finally unlocked the zipper, he opened it carefully so that the wind wouldn't make everything fly out. "Welcome to my home, " he finally said. "...let me just turn on the generator." walked to the corner of his house and then flicked a lantern on. CRACK! The lantern filled the entire room with warm light, and you could see a living room, with vibrant furniture, a small kitchen in the corner with a mini fridge in the corner. "This is a pretty nice house... I mean tent." I said quickly, "Very cozy too." was living a comfier life than I was, and we practically had the same tent!

"Well thanks, I work hard to make it this way." said proudly. "Would you like a peanut butter sandwich? Those are great to eat while working out! He pointed at a small round table in the middle of the kitchen. "Oh! Do you want an energy smoothie? I made it myself! It's great!" I saw a green and brown glump in a glass cup, there were chopped brownish banana slices on it, one falling off "Uh- No thanks, But I'll gladly take the sandwich! I am kinda hungry." I remembered that I haven't eaten much execpt for cherries since I arrived, I gladly accepted the offer. After he layed 2 peanut butter sanwhiches on the table, he brought out 2 gross looking "energy" drinks. I pushed away the drink carefully with my hand. sat besides me. "Come on, This drink is amazing! Take a sip!" He exclaimed. I shook my head. He took a sip out of his own drink and gagged. We started a conversation, we talked about the things I should make to this island. We were about half way into the tray of cookies when I finally asked him why he was out in the middle of a storm in the first place. "Well can't you tell? I'm athletic!" grinned shyly. "I was taking my evening jog around town when I saw you." He stood up and said, "Look, come see my room and I'll show you." A room? This tent was tiny, how could he have a room? I turned around and saw a weight bench, clothes dumped on the floor, drinks and 2 pillows. "Uh... What exactly is this?" I grinned and asked. "Well, my bedroom! Well, It's not really a room since there's no walls... ha... Here's my training equipment, Told you I was athletic!"

I laughed. "Where's your bed?" I asked. "Well" tapped the weight bench. "Here, silly!" He removed the dumbell from the set and almost collapsed trying to put it on the floor. grabbed a pillow and set it on the bench, and laid down. "Here it is! Super comfy and it has two uses!" He cheered.

"Hey , maybe you can give some exercising tips?" I laughed softly. He turned to me excitedly, his mouth open. "I've been waiting a long time for someone on Evergreen to ask me that!" He grinned. After he showed me all of his muscle skills, almost fainting towards the end, he gave me one of his extra blankets. He pointed to the floor. "There's your spot for the night! Goodnight!" He smirked. I stood still and stared at him with a blank face. I was NOT sleeping on the floor on the second night here, after such an exhausting day. He looked at me laughing. "You really thought I was gonna make you sleep on the floor tonight?" Haha! You should've seen the look on your face!" I also joined in the laughter. "You can sleep on the couch, It's comfy!" He assured me. It was midnight when lights went out and we both fell into slumber.
