------

We spent the rest of the evening with Taylor and the others as he explained what happened. He had been on a solo run for food when he happened to run across a Viewer. He hadn't hid in time and was captured. Instead of killing him the Viewer took him to the tower where he was put in a dark room.

A tall man spoke to him for several days telling him he was a vessel for something much greater. He tried to resist but one day the man came and took him to a room made of flesh and eyes. It was moving and breathing. He told us that he was tortured there till he was too weak to resist and that the man attached something to his neck.

He said after that happened he could no longer control his body or speak and he was forced to watch as his friends were captured one by one.

"It's not safe trying to fight those things head on." Taylor looked at me. " You already know what we're up against but what you fought is no where near as strong as the others...and you barely beat it."

He crossed his arms looking down. "We have to be more careful...we can't afford to many confrontations... however there may be some way to end this for good. Im not sure...the darkness spoke to me and showed me things I can't seem to remember"

"You need to rest." Seven said putting a hand on Taylor shoulder. "You've been through a lot."

He nodded and with a small wave to the rest of us he followed Seven out of the room leaving us alone. One breathed a heavy breath running a bandaged hand over his face, and leaned against the table.

"I can't thank you enough for your help." He looked at me and Six in turn. "I know you just got here and you've been through quite a bit but you've helped so much."

"You helped us too..and we just want to return the favor." Six nodded in agreement and One gave us a tired smile.

"Well thank you again. You should get some rest. You've earned it."

I didn't realize just how tired I was untill he said that. All of a sudden my body felt much heavier than usual and I stood up. Six followed me out of the control room and we walked through the tunnels, past the canteen, the storage room, and the makeshift armory when I heard my name.

"Hey Mono, Six come here." Charlie called. We walked in and found him hovering over his table with diagrams and parts. "I found something that might help you guys out."

"What is it." I asked walking up to his side. A familiar looking box was sitting on the table. I recognized my old remote or one that looked similar. "Hey is that-"

"A universal remote yes. My gnomes found it near where you said the Thin Man chased you a few days ago" He held it up. "I managed to scrape together enough parts to fix it. Hopefully this helps you get around easier."

I smiled taking the remote and slipping it into my pocket. "Thank you kid." I gave his head a quick pat and he smiled proudly. Then he looked at Six.

"Oh yeah can't forget my gnomes found something else." He ran to a box in the corner rummaging around for a moment. "Ah hear it is." He came back and held out his hand. In his palm was a small rectangular lighter. It looked old but still shiny somehow.

She gasped slightly, eyes wide and took it with trembling hands. She looked at it for a moment. A tear ran from her eyes and Charlie looked worried.

"W..why are you crying?"

She looked at him and shook her head. "Nothing it's just... memories." She sniffed and wrapped him in a hug. "Thank you." Charlie hugged her back with a smile. With a wave we headed back out making it too our room a few minutes later. Exhausted we took turns changing behind the curtain that was hung in the corner of the room. As Six changed I laid back on my bed feeling my back pop.
