Mother." The young, weak boy whispered in fear, tears streaming down his eyes. "They would be here soon. Soon they would arrive with their blood shot eyes and their hearts beating for vengeance. Mother keep wake because they would be led by a hot and dangerous flame of fire. They would soon be here."

"PUSH! PUSH! PUSH OUT THE BABY!!" The midwife cried, urging the weakened woman to go on. Outside, the rain fell with the anger of a mad goddess.
The afternoon was indeed a stormy one. The winds howled in fierce anger as the droplets of rain turned into rivers, shaking the base of the small hut in terror.Druala was the only town at the edge of the Earth and the dwelling place of the Blood Moon pack. The land was founded on a desert, and such rains had never been experienced.
The rains in Druala always fell in small amounts, and had never been this heavy. The day was truly exceptional. As the woman screamed in pains of child birth, the thunder roared in anger, the wolves howled to the moon, and the water continued pouring in great torrents. Little did this small and peaceful pack know that things were about to change, and very soon. That day, a new page was about to be turned.

Out of all the great bonds and covenants created by the goddess, the greatest was the mate bond!
It was more than just a strong and a deep bond which connected two people, it was a bond which connected two wolves, two spirits and more especially, two souls.Ije and Ahaa were young mates. Their wolves bonded with each other when Ije was barely 17 Red moons and Ahaa,19. The moon goddess had, just like with all other mates, chosen them for each other and had made them perfect and strong for each other.
When the two young wolves were finally mated, everyone believed that their union would be blessed with long life and plenty of beautiful children. However, the moon goddess had other plans.
"...your union would be cursed with a blessing! Ogadi...Ogadi!!"
Those were the prophecies of Nwanyi Ocha the oldest woman in the pack, to the little family of two who were just expecting their first child. During the period of the young she wolf's pregnancy, the old woman would visit every full moon with the same haunting words. . "Your union would be cursed with a blessing."It was rumored that Nwanyi Ocha was a concubine to the God of thunder, who was banished from the heavens and cursed to roam about the Earth for all eternity. Although nobody knew what to believe about the strange old woman, every time it rained, she would come out and cry with a loud shrill voice.
"Dika mmiri ozuzu diegwu...as the storm is terrible...omumu nwa ga abu...the birth of the child shall be!"She always spoke of a time of destruction and of a time of rebirth. She spoke of demons, monsters, death and trouble. But most especially, she spoke of a savior who would save them from the troubles to come!

*Ahaa, the young warrior wolf tore off his clothes, shifting into his pitch black wolf and sprinted through the plains like a rabid animal. The bleeding deer which was his catch had been completely abandoned. Right now, his mate was all that mattered! She was alone in and pain and she needed him now more than ever!

The small hut was packed with so many women. They all prayed in their hearts for the woman although they all had more fear than hope. The hut shook again as the angry thunder roared. The only voices that were heard were the voices of the mid wife, and the screams of the young woman.
