Chapter 27- Colden

It was at that exact moment, the perfect moment, of course, that my sister decided to show up. Of all times to come around here, she had to choose now, when I was having a real heart-to-heart and voicing feelings that I for sure did not want her to know. I hope she hadn't heard...

She sashayed up to me with her posse of closer friends. "Hello, Colden. What..." She looked around at Or & his friends, eyes flitting from them to me & back again. "Exactly are you doing with... them...?"

I blinked in her direction. "What do you mean exactly?"

She sighed heavily. "Do you even know these guys?! Ugh, I told everybody before, if you want me to do a favor for you, you have to come to me directly!"

I frown slightly. "No, they weren't... Don't worry about it... We were just... hanging out..."

Her eyebrows shot up & her mouth formed an O shape. "Well- ok. Just... I'll text you when Mom says she's here, 'k? Don't wanna miss our ride, now do we?" She laughed nervously & started walking away before stopping. "Do tell me if they mess with you though, ok, little bro? I don't want anyone giving you shit. Especially from such low-lives as these... I don't even recognise them from anywhere... Must not be popular at all... Well, suit yourself. Byeee!"

I breathed a sigh of relief after she left & Or & his friends stared at me. I wait until she's already at the other side of the quad before I speak. "It's a good thing she didn't shit on you guys too much. Sorry about that... She can be pretty abrasive at the best of times... Not to mention her issue with so many groups of people..."

Or raises an eyebrow. "I can imagine... I heard that she's gay, but she doesn't think guys can be, or something?"

I laugh nervously. "Ha, yeah... Thinks being a lesbian is natural for girls, but being a gay guy makes you 'a p*ssy' or something..." They all look up at me, a bit shocked. I raise my hands in surrender. "Her words, not mine. Not to mention how transphobic she is..."

They all cringe & look on apologetically. Or looks at me. "So... is that a problem... for you?"

I sigh heavily & sit down on the grass again & they join me. "Yeah, for sure... She is very close-minded about a lot of things related to diversity... Kinda a toxic environment..." I laugh nervously & run my hands through my hair. "Especially when you haven't figured your own shit out as far as any semblance of identity goes.."

They all stare at me wide-eyed & Or puts his hand on my shoulder understandingly. "Are you saying... as far as sexuality... or gender...?"
I half-grimace, half-smile nervously, looking off in the distance. "Everything..." I sigh heavily then look back at him. "I guess you could say the only thing I am sure about is that I like you..." I laugh nervously & he does too, but we both blush & stare at each other.

Raven clears her throat. "Well, if it's any consolation, we're here for you, if you need us. For advice... Or anything... We'll all LGBT & Ayo has a bunch of friends in the Enby Envies that could help you with the more 'fringe' identities."

I grin. "Thanks!" But my smile wanes. "But, I do need to keep it on the down-low... I'm not out to my family, & I don't know what they'd do... Especially Oriel..."

They all frown, eyes sad. Or takes my hand. "That sucks, I'm sorry... If you ever need a place to stay or anything...?"

I shake my head, blushing. "No, I'm good, but thanks... If something ever does happen though..."

Or gets a determined look on his face. "Just contact one of us..." Then fiddles with his phone. "There! Added you to the group chat. Hit us up if you need anything." He smiles & winks & I melt. Happy to feel... supported for once.

Awww, they're all so supportive of baby Colden :3 <3. Colden deserves so much love, love that they aren't really getting from their family :(((.

Btw, if you were wondering, I'm not shitting on lesbians w my villain (Oriel). There are a lot of other lesbian characters that are protagonists (Valeria/Raven). I just feel like too often, the villain in LGBT stories is a cishet person, when irl that isn't always the case. People can be contradictions. As is the case w Oriel. She's a bigoted lesbian. Hella into girls, but hates other minority groups (trans/NB/POC) bc her closest friends who she grew up w were bigots as well (close-minded jock dudes, you know the type). Whereas Colden got out of that mindset by learning that it was wrong to think like that, & bc they slowly realized they themself were different in some way. So even thought Oriel & Colden are twins, they have very different POVs bc of their experiences. So just a thought. Wanted to make a more complex villain than what's seen normally. Sorry this is so long :'D
