"Oh my god, is that a pigeon?!"
Yes, Jeongin's day off had finally come and the two boys were standing outside of the Busan Medical Center.
Jeongin was for once not wearing his usual hospital gown and was wearing jeans, red converse, oversized gray hoodie that Chan brought him, and warm outerwear.
When Chan finally saw Jeongin standing there with all the hospital gloom away from him, his heart skipped a beat.
No monitor on a stand being used for support, no nauseating fluorescent hospital lights, and no Felix barging in every 5 seconds to "protect his baby".
Jeongin always brightened up the gloomy hospital, but in a regular setting, he shined even brighter.
"Come on, Innie," Chan chuckled, as he began to slowly walk to his sleek black car so Jeongin could easily match his pace.
He was a bit reluctant to use his car as he much preferred his motorcycle, but he didn't want to startle Jeongin too much or put him in a situation where his heart felt like it was racing too fast.
"Okay, hyung," Jeongin smiled, making Chan coo at how sweet he is.
Jeongin slowly hobbled to the car, bundled in a warm coat, plaid scarf, and gray cap.
Chan, being the troubled and protective mom that he was, insisted that Jeongin put on as many warm clothes as possible.
After the two had gotten into the car, Jeongin reminding Chan to buckle his seat belt, Chan drove aimlessly through the streets at the regular speed limit, a weird occasion for him.
"Where are we going?" Jeongin asked, looking out the window of the passenger's seat excitedly.
The concrete buildings, blinking traffic lights, passing cars, and overall atmosphere that lay outside of his hospital room was amazing in his twinkling eyes.
"I don't know, where do you want to go?" Chan responded as he continued to steer the car with ease.
"I'm not sure either," Jeongin said as he tapped his chin. "It's been a while since I've been outside. What's a fun place to go?"
Chan thought for a second.
His days were mainly spent on the race track, his garage, his dark apartment, or at a nightclub. He deemed none of these appropriate for Jeongin and his cheerful personality.
Especially not the last one.
"How about the mall?" Chan asked, remembering that Felix often told him of going to the mall with his friends to hang out.
The mall also didn't seem like a fast-paced place that would be too much for Jeongin, so Chan considered it a good option.
"Okay!" Jeongin exclaimed, excited to go anywhere as long it wasn't the hospital.
Chan nodded and drove to the large mall located to the west of the hospital.
Every now and then, when he was changing lanes or when they were stopped at a traffic light, Chan would take a few seconds to admire Jeongin's smiling face and visible enthusiasm.
When they finally arrived at the mall, Jeongin practically jumped out of the car, but had to take a few seconds to calm himself as he remembered that his doctor warned him not to do anything that would put on strain on his heart.
"Slow down, Innie," Chan chuckled as Jeongin had regained his strength and walked toward the entrance with determination.
Chan trailed him, but quickly caught up and held the door open for the younger boy like the gentleman he was.
