Chapter 8

Callie's POV

The second we come home, me, Jude, and Brandon begin walking upstairs.

"Callie!" Stef calls, "we need to talk to you" I sigh and slowly begin walking back down the stairs.

"Look I'm really sorry I didn't call you but I was afraid of what Liam would do with Jude if we called the cops"

"No Hun, we aren't talking about that" Lena says sympathetically.

I look at them with a confused look before Stef finally explains. "We called the jail to talk to your father, Donald"

"Okay.."

There are a few awkward moment before she finally says "he isn't in jail anymore"

"What? I don't understand."

"He got out six months ago" Lena explains.

"He's been out for half a year and he never contacted me and Jude?" I ask trying hard to hold back the tears. "He didn't want us"

"Honey I'm so sorry" Lena says pulling me into a hug.

"I promise that we will find him and he will sign the adoption papers and in no time, you will be adopted" Stef says smiling.

I slowly nod and begin to walk upstairs and begin to think about how I'm going to tell Jude.

I hear a faint knock on my bedroom door before it opens, revealing Brandon.

"Hey" he says walking in.

"Hi"

We share a few awkward moments before I finally say, "thank you again for helping me. I was going to do it either way and it could have ended badly if I was alone"

"Of course Callie. I would never let you do something like that alone."

We look into each other's eyes and begin leaning towards each other before our lips were only inches apart.

Suddenly, the doorbell rings and we both jump backwards.

"Brandon! Talya is here!" Lena yells from downstairs.

Brandon and I look at each other before finally, we both say "sorry"

He walks out of the room, but not before turning around and giving me a sympathetic look.

An hour later, we are all downstairs eating dinner.

The sound of forks hitting plates is all that can be heard before Stef finally speaks up, "Hey isn't homecoming next month?" She asks.

"Yeah it is!" Mariana says excitingly.

Brandon and I exchange an awkward glance before Lena asks Brandon if he plans on going with Talya and Brandon nods.

Suddenly the phone rings, and Stef gets up to answer it.

"Yes this is she" she says.

"That's wonderful news!" She says happily.

"We will meet him there tomorrow. Thank you" then she hangs up.

"Callie, Jude" she says turning to us. "We found your father. We are going to meet him tomorrow to sign the papers." She says smiling.

I smile back, but soon realizing that it's a fake smile.
