"So, the little girls awake. About time." His voice carried in the small room, the same raspy one as before.
"Fuck, you took your sweet time coming around, pest." He leaned against the door frame. They continued their staring contest until he moved off of the door frame and started walking towards her. "What? I know your not mute, pest," he let out a short chuckle, causing the hair on her arms to rise, "So, what is it? Cat got your tongue? Are you too scared?"
He walked closer until he was next to her bed. Scooting as far away from him as possible, she looked around for anything she could use as a weapon. Until she could do that, she sure as hell wasn't talking to him. Scanning the room, the only thing she could see was a bloodied scalpel sitting on the nightstand. Right next to patch boy.
Ok, think Kikami, I have two options. I could say something and distract him o-.
Before she could finish her thought, the patch boy followed her eyes to the scalpel. "Thinking of trying to make a break for it, are you?" He smirked as he picked up the scalpel, "cute, but that won't work."
She lunged for him, pulling out her IV as she tackled him to the ground. Her lungs felt like they were tearing apart, screaming at her to stop, to rest. Blood flowed down her arm and splattered on the floor as she grabbed the scalpel and pinned the man to the floor with one knee on his chest and the other pinning one of his arms. The scalpel was positioned against his throat, and his other arm twisted and pinned by her own. Her lungs demanded air from the sudden activity, and she was panting. After a few seconds, the man smirked up at her.
Her face formed into a scowl. "Who are you?" Her voice was weak and raw. She flinched from the pain. Blood dripped down, landing on his twisted arm.
He scoffed, "I ask-"
"Who are you?" She didn't care if her voice hurt if her lungs screamed. This pain, she was used to it. She welcomed it.
His eyes widen for a split second at being interrupted but quickly regained their cool demeanour. "Persistent brat, aren't you?" His voice was still calm, and that irritated her. She pressed the blade closer to his scarred neck, not caring that her hand was shaking and her vision was darkening. He let out a chuckle, "Ha, you and I both know you're about to pass out, so why don't we stop this foolish attempt at escaping? You can't win."
You can't win. The voices in her head broke through whatever barrier she had put up. Useless, pathetic, you couldn't save him! Failure! Die, die, DIE!
"Shut up!" She hissed in his face, anger and adrenaline surging through her. She tried to activate her quirk, to put his stupid face in a box and crush him until nothing but blood and bone fragments remained. But before she could, the man managed to take advantage of her weak state and unbalance her enough to pull his arm from under her leg. In one swift motion, he had her pinned under him in the same position that he was held in. The pressure on her chest caused a small scream to claw its way out of her.
"You know, it's not smart to play with knives." He chuckled and increased the pressure, causing her to drop her only chance. The scalpel clattered to the ground as a whimper made its way out. She hated it. I hated this helpless feeling, hated being here, hated breathing. She hated it. The hate built up inside of her, emotions running out of control. Falling into the same loop as before, but this time, she was in control. She locked eyes with patch boy, and for the first time, she saw fear in his eyes.
This is insanity, this feeling, that look. Like when he saw her the first time, he froze. His breathing stopped, time stopped. Her blue eyes captivated every nerve in his body, he couldn't escape. The longer he looked into those eyes, the more he saw into her. The more he understood what exactly he had brought into The League.
True insanity.
A thump from upstairs broke the hold she had on him. He eased up the pressure on her chest, just a little, before getting off of her completely.
"Dabi."
The sudden intensity was gone, and she was left on the floor, breathing raggedly. Taking a second to process what he said, she couldn't make sense of it.
"What?" She could barely get the word out, her vision going darker than before, her body demanding rest.
He looked down at her and scoffed. "You asked, I answered, pest."
Then it clicked. His name was Dabi. "And you are Shinshu Kikami." Her breathing stopped. How does he know? I never told him, he should know! Her energy left her, eyes closing once again, the panic leaving her as she drifted off into the darkness.
