After I finally get my breakfast, I head to class. Today the cafeteria had bagels. I bought an ice coffee to give me more energy. This morning has been so mentally draining, and I've only been awake for 5 hours.
As I walk down the main hall I see Echo enter the hall from the office doors. She looks tired, and angry.
We meet eyes, and her frown quickly turns into a smile. Wow. Why does her one smile make me feel so happy?
She quickly walks towards me. " Good morning Zoe." Echo greets. "Good morning Echo. How's life treating you this Friday morning?" I ask.
She hesitates. "To be honest. Not the best." Echo answers.
Things go quiet for what feels like forever.
I finally break the barrier between us and say" Well I'm here now, and hopefully I'll help lighten you day!" I cheer.
She smiles, but quickly looks towards the ground. " Hopefully." Echo states.
We continue to walk in silence. I want to ask what's making her so blue this early in the morning. A FRIDAY morning to be exact. I don't want to say it though, so I decide to ask her about volleyball.
"So um, did you hear that volleyball tryouts are in 2 weeks." I ask. " Wait what. I was told that they weren't for another month!"Echo pouts. " Dumb me for actually listening to Corrina Poindexter. When has she ever been nice to me." she murmurs.
I try to think if I've heard a Corrina before. Nope, no Corrina is registering. " Corrina Poindexter? I don't think I've met her." I said.
"Well be glad you haven't! She's the absolute worst person in the entire human planet! Better that the universe! I promise you if she ever lies to me again with such bull I'll-" I cut Echo off before she could continue.
" So I see she hasn't been the best towards you. But can we please stop talking about her,and get back to the volleyball topic. I swear if I let you continue you were going to say a few chose words that wouldn't be the best things to say at school." I exclaim.
" Oh yea. Volleyball. So are you trying out. I know I am. I need to be out of my house more often. " She states.
" I mean maybe. I love the sport, but am I really ready to commit to it. Like how am I gonna know if I'll continue to love it. What if the people on the team are mean to me!" I answer.
" Wow over thinker are we now. For starters, if you don't continue to love it then you can always drop out. Secondly your new, so you haven't had a chance to make enemies anyway. If the people are so terrible then set them straight. As simple as that." Echo states.
"But it's not as simple as that. You know that saying easier said than done. Well it works in this case! And I'm not the type to argue with someone so easily." I reply.
"Well you have time to think about it. But don't procrastinate and wait till the day of to sign up." Echo stated.
"Well there's one thing about me that will always be true is that I Zoe Christian doesn't procrastinate." I replied.
Then we went towards our seats just in time for the first bell.
