As we drive away from Quin's house, I realize that school wasn't completely terrible. I made a friend which is always great, and I didn't get too loss in the hallways. " So how was your school, did you find your classes?" mom asked. " It seems nice I guess, and Quin helped me find all my classes." I replied. She looked happy. " Quin seems way better then your last group of friends!" remarked mom. I know my last group of friends weren't the best choice but does she have to bring it up every waking moment? " Yeah I guess." I murmured. " Ever since your father died you've been, different." remarked mom. One year ago my father died from a car accident. He made me who I am. He taught me how to play volleyball, and skate. Now that he's gone I don't know who I am. I ignore her, and we sit in silence.

" What do you want for dinner tonight?" asked mom. " Lasagna with garlic bread sounds nice." I replied. She nods and continued to ask me questions about school. Then she came to the question I dreaded the most. " Did you talk to any boys?"she asked. " Yea the principal, he looked like Santa!" I replied. " Haha very funny, I mean boys of your age." mom says. " Oh be more specific next time!" I joke. " There was this one boy called Elmo." I answered. " Oh Elmo! she said excitedly. What does he look like? mom asked. " He is tall and has shiny black hair." I replied. " Sounds cute!" mom teased. " Actually he's not, anyway I'm not interested in dating right now anyway!" I remarked. " Okay, I get the picture."mom said. "Did you talk to anyone else today?" she asked. " Nope!" I remarked. " Well I hope you get more social, you need more than just one friend." mom remarked. " Technically you don't need any friends, they're just good to have." I replied. " I just want you to be happy. mom answered. Is that too much to ask of?" " I guess not. I replied. But I'm not dating anyone to make you happy!" I say. Were silent for the rest of the ride back, and I can't stop to think about that lasagna.
