We finally got to Quin's house after lots of chatting, watching paper airplanes getting thrown across the bus, and hearing girls gossip. Quin's house was nice, wasn't too amazing that I would look like I'm using her or bad that made me look like I was better than her. Quin has 2 siblings, Xavier and Yara. Xavier the oldest and Yara the youngest making Quin the middle child. Her mom ,Mrs. Tucker, was so welcoming. She gave us snacks and showed me around the house. Quin and I decided to go to her room to get some homework done and watch some Television.
Her room was decorated in quotes and lights. Posters and pictures hung on the wall. Clothes were nicely put up except for a few socks. "Wow." I say in awe. " It isn't always that clean!" she says quickly. " I just clean on Mondays." she remarks. " That makes more since, my room is clean but not like this." I see that we have the same taste in decorations, for I also have the exact same posters in my room. "Well we better get busy with math." Quin suggested. I take a seat in a fluffy, pink beanbag chair and we get to work . Decimals later we finish our homework and get settled to watch TV. I eat a couple of potato chips and drink my ice cold lemonade and think about why the kid on the show tries so hard to be who there not, just to fit in to the crowd. Soon I smell a delicious, chocolaty scent drifting from the kitchen. " I think my mom is making her extra chocolate chocolate chip cookies!" Quin said excitedly. " That sounds delicious, I love chocolate." I replied.
Before we know it Mrs. Tucker is at the door with a tray full of cookies, and 2 glasses of milk. We say thank you and dig in. The cookies taste better than they sound! The show is still in my head though. Why is society always labeling you? How come we have to change to fit into it? " Quin thank you for wanting to be my friend before you could even label me." I murmur. " I can spot a good person the time I see them!" Quin replies. Her answer was unexpected. Me a good person? At my last school I was never called a good person. I don't remember being called a good person at the last, last one either. I guess Quin realizes my shock and gives me a caring hug. Time passes by and my mom calls saying she's on her way to pick me up. I don't want to leave yet, I was having such a good time. I pack my things and Quin talk to me about the kids at my school .
Quin wants us to have a sleepover on Friday. My first sleepover, well real one. The last one I had was with my "friends" who just used the sleepover as an opportunity to embarrass me for a night. My mom arrives and we tell her our moms our plans for Friday. They talk about it in private for like forever then come back. " Zoe you can spend the night here on Friday if you invite Quin over for dinner tomorrow." my mom remarked. " Hmm, I don't mom why would I want to spend more time with my friend to get to spend more time with her!" I say jokingly. "Then it's settled." Mrs. Tucker replied. I wave to Quin and say our goodbyes. Quin stands in the doorway as we pull of and I see her wave and close the welcoming door. Where the delicious cookies, the cold lemonade, the salty potato chips, and the little kid who had to change to fit into society, lay.
