who is angel?
at age four she used to dance in the rain on the glistening sidewalks on manhattan
at age seven her innocence was brutally stolen by
the one she was told she could trust-by the one who wore the mask of a mentor
at age eight she discovered her desire for creativity
at age nine she became sick
at age ten she was stolen from the big city to the land of trees
there she would find many people who would dim the colors of her aura-and shame the color of her skin
at age eleven she watched her brother fall to the floor and shake- they call it epilepsy
at age twelve she learned how to cut her skin and watch it bleed
at age thirteen she learned how to breathe again for a short time
and at age fourteen the kids called her everything but her name, so she gave herself the name angel
at age fifteen she tried to take her life away
at age sixteen she met a boy who only touched her in violent ways, he gave her to his friends to take part in the destruction of soul
at age seventeen she changed
at age eighteen she discovered loud music and substances; that same age a boy sold her a dream. later that awful boy stole her and hurt her in his car
at age nineteen she left home, never wanting to look back
at age twenty she tried to take her breath once more, she spent many days in a hospital this is where she discovered the meaning of the universe
at age twenty one angel earned her wings
she knows that scars make her a piece of rare art
she knows her strength can move mountains
she knows her love can save even the most broken and destroyed
she who used to dance in the rain, has now learned how to waltz through a thunderstorm.
