Alerick-

"Yes I'm quite positive it's her." I said through the phone. "How you ask? Its her scent and the way she glares at me for not giving her proper acknowledgement. Excuse me? Of course, all I need in my life is a feisty mate."

I was currently talking to my Beta, Kent about my mate at three in the morning. I was finally sure she was my mate and wasn't sure if I wanted others to know that just yet. All of the wolves, except my guards and the pack territory's guards, were asleep. The guards were more respectful and knew better than to listen to my private conversation.

"Confront her? Of course not. We are here strictly on business."

I got up from sitting on my bed and started to pace my room.

"If I accept as my mate, she will have to return to the kingdom with me. I will not put her in the position of not having a choice." I sighed thinking of all the choices I wasn't able to make. I shook my head getting rid of those thoughts.

I heard Kent ask me a question and I grew furious.

"Leaving her mateless is not an option." I said through clenched teeth. "It's just right now is not the time for mates."

I took in a deep breath, closed my eyes and counted to ten. I calmed down immediately.

"I'm going for a run." I said my voice back to normal.

"Make sure to bring a guard." was the last thing I heard Kent say before I hanged up. I walked over to my window and looked out.

All clear.

No guards were standing here so I climbed on the ledge and leaped landing on my wolf's four paws. I didn't tell any guards where I was going. I am 25; I do not need babysitters.

I ran through the trees not completely sure where I was going. I loved many things about this pack but If it was one thing I truly loved, it was their forest. It wasn't filthy and confusing but well kept and easy to run through. I came to a clearing where another wolf sat.

One of a midnight black color.

I walked towards her with caution. I wasn't sure how she was going to react to me after today. Her ears perked up and I was sure she heard me but made no move to leave. I took this as a good sign and walked faster to her.

I sat beside her, leaving distance inbetween us, and looked straight ahead. My eyes were met with a small pond. One where fishes swam and humans stuck their feet in to cool them down on a hot summer day. It was beautiful.

I heard bones cracking slowly and turned to look at her and was faced with her naked form. I turned my head away to give her privacy to put some clothes on but she just came closer to me. From the corner of my eye, I saw her hesitantly reach out and pet my fur.

"You couldn't sleep big boy? "She asked sounding positive she knew the answer. "Me either. It's funny. You don't think about your mate and one day you just wake up and...and they find you."

I wanted to look at her , to see if she looked disappointed but remembered she was naked so turned to the pond again. A whine slipped my snout before I could stop it and I was left stunned. I sounded weak; I wasn't used to that.

She chuckled and rub my fur again. "Don't worry I'm not upset. Just surprised. Thats all."

I hung my head low in embarrassment, something else I wasn't used to. I was close to shifting back so I could actually respond to her but was interrupted by guards.

"My Lord! My Lord! It is unsafe for you to be out alone with these rogues."

I turned to look back to see if she had heard about the rogues , but she was gone.

Erica

I was running faster than normal. I was moving swiftly through the trees like breeze on a windy day. Thank gosh I knew these woods from memory.

I don't why I ran.

I took off like a crazy person. It was like when I saw his guards, I was shot back to reality. I shouldn't have forgiven him so easily, so quickly. For christ sake I was naked in front of him!

I had to admit I enjoyed how my hands felt through his fur. It was soft just like I expected and well kept.

I couldn't deny that I felt something and wanted to go back. I wanted to be close to him again. It was fair to feel that way right? He was mine after all. I could always go back to him.

But instead I kept running.
