Chapter 18: Not My Queen

Alerick

"Kent? Kent? Kent!" I yelled in my head through the mind link.

The mind link is a communication through our mind. The Moon Goddess  presented that gift to higher powers, royalty and worthy wolves. As Alpha,  I can pass on the trait to anyone so I passed it on to my entire castle.

"Kent? What do you mean kidnapped?"

"Kidnapped as in she was taken. She's been taken by rogues." He finally answered growling at the end of the sentence.

He sounded pissed and I'm very ashamed to say I enjoyed the idea of that. An angry Kent was a passionate one.

"The pack?" I asked even though I  already knew the answer.

"The rogue pack." He said through what sounded like clenched teeth.

"Alright I'll be there in a day or less."

"No!" He yelled in my head.

"What? Why?"

"Because you'll bring Erica with you."

"And?" I asked. He was dragging this conversation out and I wanted to be on my way already to end this problem by myself once and for all .

"They came for the Luna but settled for Rochelle."

My breath caught in my throat and for the first time in a long time, I was speechless.

"Not my queen." I whispered to myself.

Erica

"Not my queen." He whispered to himself.

He wasn't facing me so I stared at the back of his head wondering who he was talking to.

"Alerick?"

He turned slowly to face me before taking three long strides to reach me and lifted me off the ground. My suitcases fell out my hands and he took a breath while his face nestled in my neck. I laughed at his actions.

"I wasn't gone that long." I said.

"Yet I missed you every second you weren't by my side."

I smiled knowing there was a reason behind his behavior.

"What happened while I was gone Alerick?"

He placed me on the ground and furrowed his eyebrows.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean what happened while I was packing?" I placed my hands on my hips to show I was serious. "You were talking to yourself at one point. I'm a little worried now."

"It's nothing." He said shaking his head. Universe language: It's nothing meant everything bad that could happen; happened.

"Alerick. Trust me. Please."

He sighed heavily like what he was about to say is physically hurting him.

"They kidnapped Rochelle."

"Who's that?"

He paused realizing I was confused.

"Rochelle is Kent's, my Beta, mate."

"Oh. Oh my gosh. Wait how do you know that?" I asked. "Weren't you here the whole time?"

"Mind link." He said casually.

"I thought that was a myth!" I exclaimed. I was super excited for him to explain how the mind link and how he got it but that would have to wait for another time. "But that's horrible. Alrighty where to?"

"I'm going to find Rochelle; you are going to stay in the safety of the castle."

"Wait I'm not coming?" He shaked his head at me. I tried to smile but failed. "But why?"

"Its not safe for you and while I'm gone, I want you to trained properly."

"But..." I started.

"No buts Erica! The decision is final." He yelled at me. I took a couple steps away from him not liking his attitude towards me. I picked up my suitcases and started to walk back to the room that I just left. In a second he was directly behind me. He hugged me from behind and I leaned into him.

"I'm leaving tomorrow. Stay with me tonight." He pleaded.

I sighed in defeat and turned towards his room door.

He went to shower and I changed into a tank top and shorts for bed. A few minutes later, he climbed into bed with me.

"Alerick?"

"Hmm?" He answered.

"What about the Luna Ceremony?"

He sighed for what seemed like the hundredth time today. "It has to be delayed."

We laid in silence for a few more minutes before I placed my head and the palm of my hand on his chest and one of my legs over the both of his. I pressed my body into his trying to get as close to him as possible.

"Don't start something you won't be able to finish babe." He said.

I ignored him and fell asleep to the sound of his heartbeat.
