Ajay wasn't surprised as Renee's tongue met hers. Renee pulled Ajay from the wall and pushed her over to a nearby desk as she kissed her. Ajay sat down on the desk as Renee stood between her legs and continued to kiss her. Renee gently pushed Ajay's back onto the desk, laying her down. "Renee..." Ajay whispered as Renee started to unbutton Ajay's shorts. Ajay swallowed hard and closed her eyes as Renee leaned over her again, "Ajay?" Her breath was warm against Ajay's neck as she kissed her skin.
Ajay could feel herself falling into the trance that Renee brought on; whatever mind control euphoria shit that she possessed. It felt amazing but Ajay knew that she couldn't let herself give into it. She felt Renee's hand slide into her the waistline of her shorts. Ajay swallowed hard again and tried to find her voice before speaking, "Renee please stop...." Renee pulled away and looked into Ajay's eyes with a stunned look that only lasted a moment.
"I don't understand." Renee rested her hands on Ajay's thighs, "Don't you want me?" Ajay took a deep breath and tried to gather her thoughts, "It's not like that Renee." She continued to look into Renee's eyes. Ajay felt bad as she could see pain pour into Renee's eyes and then down her cheeks as she began to cry. Ajay sat up and hugged Renee. "Ya need ta understand that I love Silva and I don't wanna do anything to hurt him."
Renee nodded into Ajay's shoulder as she hugged her back, "I know. I just wished that someone loved me as much as you love him." Ajay held Renee in her arms, "What about Elliot? He seems like he really cares about ya." Renee shook her head, "He's great but we are too complicated for each other. Or maybe I am too complicated for him." Renee sighed, "I have a lot of shit going on and until I can figure it all out I don't think I can be with anyone in the capacity that you and Octavio are." Ajay rubbed Renee's back, "What shit?"
"My past. I can't remember anything about it before Singh Lab and the experiments. I have been trying to piece my life back together. That's why I joined Apex. To get some answers. Who was I before I entered Singh Lab and they started performing their experiments on me? Did I want to be experimented on? Was I married? Did I have kids? Did I have a family? Was I happy? I have so many unanswered questions. I have learned to live with the voices but I have found it hard to live without knowing who I was before all of this." Ajay nodded, "I can't even begin ta understand how that feels but I'm here for ya. I wanna help ya." Renee pulled away from Ajay and pushed tears away from her wet face. Renee was no longer crying but she still looked sad.
The room was dark and quiet as Renee sat down on the desk next to Ajay. Renee took Ajay's hand and held onto it tight. "What now? Where do we go from here?" Renee's voice was soft as she spoke. Ajay sighed, "I don know. I'm still workin on this Syndicate shit. I mean I know Blisk is part of The Syndicate. Revenant is as well. I don know much more than that." Ajay rubbed her forehead with her free hand; mostly out of frustration.
Renee gently rubbed Ajay's hand as she held it, "What about Dr. Bateman?" Ajay put her hand in her lap and looked over to Renee, "What about her?" Dr. Maxine Bateman was head of the medical care for all of the Legends and anything pertaining to medical in the Apex games. All the Legends had to go through her before being cleared to enter the games. She also ran a small hospital and clinic that was connected to HQ. Renee shrugged, "She is also part of The Syndicate. Maybe she has some of the answers you are looking for." Ajay was surprised that she didn't know about Dr. Bateman but it made more sense now.
"She has everything on us. She did a thorough background check on everyone. No wonder The Syndicate knows so much."
Ajay was silent for a moment as Renee stood up, "Sorry to get emotional like that Ajay. It's just a lot right now." Ajay nodded, "Ya don need to apologize for how ya feel." Renee smiled for a split second, "If you figure anything out about The Syndicate then let me know." Ajay stood up, "Same ta ya. We need ta work together on this one. I am beginning ta think that The Syndicate isn't lookin ta take just me out anymore." Renee looked sad when she looked at Ajay but she quickly looked away as she left the office and closed the door behind her.
Ajay waited for a little bit so that no one could see them leave together. She leaned against the desk and clutched the gun in the pocket of her hoodie. Some little part of her just wished that she would have just shot Blisk in his smug face when she was alone with him. At the rate that Blisk was recruiting new Legends it was getting harder for her to get anything done. It was like he was recruiting to cover up something and now she just dug herself a deeper hole. She couldn't even tell Octavio anything that occurred today because she promised him that she wouldn't be doing anymore 'Syndicate' shit without him. She hated herself for doing this without him but she wanted to keep him safe.
Ajay regrettably made it back to Elliot's apartment. She wasn't sure if she was supposed to knock on the door or walk in so she just stood there. She stood outside of the door for a moment to collect her thoughts. She somehow needed to get her brain into game mode for tonight. She wasn't even sure if Octavio was game ready but it didn't matter what she thought because he was stubborn like her. Even if she told him not to compete he would do it anyway. She needed to quit worrying about meaningless shit. Lately, so much of her time had been wasted on second guessing herself. She finally raised her hand up and knocked the door. She waited patiently as the door opened and Elliot was waiting on the other side.
"I knew you couldn't get enough of me." Elliot flashed her a smile as she walked in. "Where is Silva?" Elliot frowned at her, "Not even a hello?" Ajay sighed and waited. Elliot shrugged and closed the door, "He is taking a shower in my bathroom." She headed towards Elliot's bedroom and then into his bathroom. She gently opened the bathroom door and was immediately engulfed by the warm humid air that lingered. Ajay closed the door behind her as she stepped in. She set her backpack down and tucked the Wingman into it. "Silva?" The glass of the shower door was fogged over from the steam of the hot water. She could hear him moan from the other side of the shower glass door.
She quickly removed her clothing and opened the shower door to find Octavio sitting down under the hot water. She frowned as she closed the door behind her; he looked miserable. She fought back tears as she looked over his pale body. His arms were draped over his knees and his forehead rested against his arms. The vast majority of his back was lined with too many scars to count. His jet black hair was wet and stuck to the sides of his face.
Ajay knelt down beside him and wrapped her arms around him. She placed her cheek against the left upper part of his back. She felt his body shake as he cried and finally relaxed into her. She held him against her as hot water poured over them. He sobbed into her arm as they sat there. Her lips pressed against the back of his neck. She was silent as the water washed over them. She didn't know what to say or if there was anything that she could even say to make things better.
She gently rubbed her fingers along his skin to calm him. After a while Octavio managed to stop sobbing. He pulled his head from her arm and forced a smile as he looked into her eyes, "Sorry Che." She shook her head, holding back her own tears, "I don know what ya sorry for Silva." She smiled at him as her fingers managed to find his hair. Octavio's smile was less forced and more natural as he leaned his head into her fingers. "It's just been a long week."
Ajay nodded as he hugged her. She knew there was more than just that but she didn't want to coax it out of him. She pressed her face into his neck; he felt like home, he always felt like home. "I'm here Silva." She could feel his body shake a little, as if he were going to cry again, but he didn't. Octavio held her tight against him. "But what if you're not Che. What if something happens to you and you're never here again." He tried to push his thoughts to the side as Ajay began to gently clean his body. He didn't complain as her hands worked their soothing touch over his skin.
