Last Rose You Give Me

  "You have got to be kidding me? Late again! Tikki, spots on!" I transformed into Ladybug and quickly swung off the roof to go meet kitty. After the mishap in class today, Adrien offered to walk me to the nurse. It was incredibly nice of him, but awfully embarrassing for me. Luckily they just sent me home for the day. 

     Once I saw Chat sitting on the bridge looking at the sunset, I landed beside him.

    "Sorry I'm late kitty." I sat down.

    "Don't worry about it bugaboo, ready to go?" Chat held out his hand as he stood up. I smiled up at him and took his hand.

    "Of course, but don't call me bugaboo."

   "Okay sugarcube." Chat teased.

   "Not that either" I called to him as we leapt from building to building. I couldn't help but feel a heavy weight sitting on my shoulders. Every time he called me his lady, or his bug, the weight got heavier. I swallowed what felt like a rock.

     Luckily we finished patrol with no problems but a cat stuck in a tree, and a kid dropping his toy. We stood on top of a roof and looked out over Paris.

      "Nice job today M'lady." Chat held out a lavender colored rose to me. I couldn't tell if I wanted to hit him on the head or give him a hug. I decided neither was best.

    "So what does this one mean?" I hesitantly took the beautiful flower and tried to hide my smile.

     "It means that the moment I saw you, I fell in love." He leaned against me with his arm around my shoulder and a smug grin on his face. I dropped my head and twirled the rose around in my fingers. His smugness never failed to make me smile at his adorable stupidity. My heart felt all warm and fuzzy. The way he cared about me with no shame, made me feel warm and fuzzy. But my blissful and giddy feeling doesn't last long. No, stop it Marinette. You've seen how this goes. I stepped away from him.

    "Thanks kitty. But this better be the last rose you give me." I turned away before I did anything else I might regret and leapt off the building, holding the rose close to my aching heart.
