𝗙rankie strolled out of the office, her mind still racing with the chaos of the day, when she accidentally collided with someone. "sorry about that!" she exclaimed, her cheeks tinged pink with embarrassment.

"oh, don't worry about it," the stranger smiled warmly, a hint of mischief in his twinkling blue eyes. "i'm charlie, by the way." frankie's heart skipped a beat at the sight of his tousled brown hair and charismatic demeanor. she mentally sighed, noticing how effortlessly charming he was. she extended her hand, a friendly smile slipping onto her face. "i'm frankie."

just as charlie reached for her hand, the sharp ringing of the bell echoed through the hallway. "and i'm late for class," frankie hurriedly remarked, the urgency in her tone as she dashed off towards her history class. "sorry, don't mind me—i was just in the bathroom."

"doing what exactly?" mr. matthews teased, a smirk dancing on his lips. frankie rolled her eyes playfully. "i'm on my period, matthews. what do you think?" his eyes widened in surprise, and he quickly turned his head away, attempting to maintain some semblance of professionalism.

it wasn't exactly a total lie; while she hadn't been in the bathroom, she was indeed dealing with the monthly inconvenience. "oh, okay, i'm not that late," she reassured herself, glancing around the classroom for her friends. noticing that maya and riley hadn't arrived yet, she turned back to mr. matthews. "do you happen to know where they are?"

"nope, i was busy helping a new student find his way around," she replied, a hint of playful sarcasm in her voice. "i was, you know, being helpful, unlike some people."

riley and maya strolled in, giggling softly. "i think there's something seriously wrong with him," riley whispered to maya.

"hi, honey," mr. matthews greeted cheerfully.

"hi, daddy," riley chimed, her tone dripping with playful sarcasm.

"you're late to your father's class," frankie said teasingly as she made her way toward them, her grin wide and infectious. "oh, don't worry, mr. matthews. you wrote her a note," she added, holding the crumpled paper up as evidence.

"i did?" he asked, feigning confusion.

"he did," riley echoed, crossing her arms in mock frustration.

"you did," frankie confirmed, stifling a laugh.

riley handed the note to her father, who read aloud, "'riley is late. deal with it.' well, you've managed to get my signature down pretty well this time," mr. matthews commented, shaking his head at his daughter.
