"𝓙 don't think it's a good idea if i go to the play," frankie says to her older sister. abby was making them both strawberry sundaes. "why not?"
"lucas and i haven't spoken in three weeks. you know how many people asked if we're okay. he and i never separated; i miss my best friend sometimes."
"why did you two stop talking in the first place?" frankie sighs, grabbing her cup. "doesn't matter."
"frankie." the older sister sighs, "talk to me. i know you need someone to talk to."
"riley has this huge crush on lucas, and she doesn't like the idea of us hanging out all the time." the strawberry blonde scoffs, "so you're telling me she gets to take maya and lucas away from you."
"it's not like that."
"it's not like that? you and maya have been friends since you were in diapers, diapers! and one look at riley; she misses your best friend's funeral."
frankie's parents softly knocked on the door the morning of danny's funeral. they didn't get a response, so they opened the door slowly. they say frankie standing in front of her bed, staring at her plain black dress.
"honey," addy whispers reaching her arm out to touch her daughter. "i'll be down soon," frankie mutters, moving away from her mother's touch. "i just need some time."
thomas grabbed his wife, "come on. let's give her some space."
"if maya, riley, lucas, or farkle come, can you send them up?"
"of course, sweetie." franklin closed the door staring down at addison. "what are we supposed to do?"
"i think she'll be a little more open once her friends are here." with that, the doorbell rang. "mom, dad!" the two walked downstairs to see lucas and farkle standing in the doorway.
"hello, mr. and mrs. thomas." farkle greeted with a smile. "hi, farkle."
"hi," lucas says softly, looking at the stairs hoping to see frankie. she's been dodging his calls, ignoring his texts. "i'm sorry, but can i go see frankie."
"of course."
"come on, farkle." lucas raced upstairs, not wasting another second. "i'm sorry about him; he's just perturbed about frankie."
"trust me, we know." abby chuckles, patting farkle on his shoulder, "you really going to let him take her from you?"
"i was at first, but when you see them together, you know they're meant for each other. they realize sooner or later." he says, staring at the three.
