"Come on in and introduce yourself." Aizawa gestured to the new student at the door.
A girl with a black headscarf entered the classroom, immediately curiosity took over Class 2-A.
Y/N kept her head down knowing that this was bound to happen when she moved to Japan, she wasn't surprised to see the shocked faces and hear quiet chatters. With a low sigh Y/N dipped her head down, Japanese people weren't exposed to Muslims in a good light, infact most of the world wasn't, thanks to the media. But all those things on TV were not the Islam she followed, Islam was a religion of peace and in order to show that to people she had to be a good representative of it.
Slowly lifting her head up and having the courage to look up at her new classmates, a short pink haired girl waved with a smile at Y/N, she returned the smile. Maybe this was going to better than expected, it looked like she had already made a friend.
Aizawa sensei glared at his students making them quiet down for the young girl in front of the classroom to introduce herself.
"Hi, I'm Y/F/N. I've been granted with an amazing opportunity to transfer to UA from my home country. " Y/N introduced herself, dreading to say the next sentence because she could feel all the eyes on her. She wasn't ashamed of her quirk, in fact when she had manifested it she was in love with it and immediately dreamed of being accepted to a hero school.
But of course, people talk. People talk shit and people like to poke fun at others to feel something.
"What's your quirk?" A green haired with small freckles asked the question she was dreading.
"It's, uh, Water Bubble Bombs." Y/N nervously fiddled with her thumbs afraid of what the crowd would think or say after mentioning the word 'bomb'.
"Cool!" It was the green haired boy who had spoke again this time smiling, making Y/N shocked at his kind behaviour. Usually people would snicker or start mumbling that the quirk was suited to her in a bad sense but that didn't happen this time.
Bakugo looked at the girl with the headscarf, she was wearing slightly baggy trousers instead of the skirt which was kinda odd to him. Bakugo wasn't dumb, he knew the girl before him was a Muslim and figured that was the reason she had swapped out the short skirt for some baggy trousers.
Aizawa mumbled for his new student to take a seat next to Uraraka and Y/N nodded her head in obedience. "Over here, Y/N-san!" The brown haired girl waved shyly at her. Walking towards her new desk she felt a certain glare towards her and caught an ash blonde with an mean stare. She quickly averted her gaze down to the floor as she walked past him to sit at the empty seat next to Uraraka.
Bakugo clicked his tongue in an attempt to let the annoying curiosity leave his conscious. What was so interesting about her anyways?
-
"So...why do you wear, um," Mina rambled trying to find the words to ask Y/N another question but she was afraid to hurt her new friend that was sitting across the table from her.
"It's called a headscarf." Bakugo spoke up playing with the rice in his bowl and looked up towards the two girls, making Y/N slightly shocked that he knew what the garment was. She smiled towards him only for Bakugo to look back down at his food.
The only reason he had butted into the conversation was because he was frustrated at the amount of questions being thrown at Y/N. Her (eye colour) eyes gazed at Bakugo who was sat at the other end of the table, Y/N was intrigued by him to say the least - how did know that?
Y/N knew that Japan was a secular country that didn't really teach any form of religious studies in public schools and no way did a hero school so that either. It was a basic fact that a Muslim woman wore a headscarf but it was just surprising that out of the people on the table the ash blonde called it out. Y/N quickly scowled at herself for judging him and then again when she had realised how long she had been staring at him.
Looking back at Mina, Y/N saw that she was just as surprised like the rest of her classmates on the table that Bakugo had informed them so calmly. Y/N saw a tint of embarrassment in Mina's face because of the question she had asked. Mina didn't want to offend her at all but her blabbering curiosity had got the best of her.
"It's okay Ashido-san," Y/N spoke, smiling at her new friend. "I wear it for religious reasons, in Islam Muslims need to dress modestly to avert their bodies from being gazed at by the opposite gender." Y/N explained to Mina and also Uraraka - whom was also curious. Bakugo looked over at the new girl interested in her words.
"Plus, wearing a headscarf makes me feel closer to my religion." Y/N added quietly, picking up some rice with her spoon as she had yet to master using chopsticks.
Taking those Japanese lessons for the past year as preparation for her transfer had certainly paid off as she was fluent enough to communicate with her new classmates now.
Bakugo took in her words, a part of him wanted to tell her that those beliefs were oppressing and she should just dress however the fuck she wanted but the other part of him wanted to ask further and know more before he could judge so quickly, however he decided to stay quiet.
"That sounds...interesting." Uraraka smiled but it was obvious she wanted to make Y/N not feel awkward with the silence that had fell upon the table.
"I'm sorry for asking you loads of questions and if we've offended you." This time Momo spoke from the seat next to you.
"Of course you haven't! It's okay, I don't mind." Y/N grinned at her class representative. People always though asking questions were offensive of course they weren't! It only bothered Y/N when they questions were either becoming negative, she didn't mind educating or informing others of her beliefs.
Y/N never really brought up her religion in conversation because it was something private and it wasn't a very good manners to scold at others for not sharing the the same belief as her, so she only talked about her religion when she was asked about it or if it was absolutely necessary.
"Hey, Y/N-san did you need a tour of the school?" Jirou asked politely picking at her food.
"That would be a great, thank you Jirou-san!" Y/N nodded gratefully and was happy was that Jirou offered to help.
"How about we hang out this Sunday? We could show you around the area too and then head out to get some lunch!" Mina cheered from the opposite side of the table.
A rush of anxiety went through Y/N, she had only met these people and they already wanted to spend time with her which was flattering but she was yet to explore Japan and it's opinions on her.
Y/N hated that she always thought about what others were thinking of her, the fear was being discriminated was planted into her mind at a young age but she knew that no matter how much she tried she couldn't satisfy others. With that, she decided that this was a chance for her to push aside those bad thoughts and just enjoy herself. After all, she wouldn't be alone, she had new friends, places to explore and a life to live!
Y/N nodded accepting the offer, Mina fist bumped the air as, Uraraka, Jirou, Momo and Tsu all smiled making a warm feeling of comfort bloom in Y/N chest.
"Hey, count us in!" Kirishima and Kaminari shouted from the other end of the table. "Bakubro, you in?" Kirishima asked enthusiastically to his friend. Bakugo didn't say anything, he just gave the two boys a cold stare.
"He's probably gunna say that he has better things to do." Jirou casually rolled her eyes twirling one of her earphone jacks around her finger.
Y/N looked over at the boy again, a part of her hoping that he would accept the offer.
