~WICKED's Headquarters~

No one's POV

"Is subject A1 still unconscious?" The woman asked as she arrived in the lab. She harbored a strict yet serene look to her face and her footsteps indicated that she was not here to stay long. Everybody in the room seemed to sense that since a worker instantly sprung into action and stood by the woman's side, debriefing the situation inside the maze in details as quick as he could without sounding rushed.

"Yes, ma'am" He replied, feeling quite nervous since the woman --his boss-- was usually nice but was easily angered. And judging by her behavior, it was most likely those days were the mere incident could wake the dormant dragon inside the woman. Those days were the worst and no one seemed to be in the mood for an hour long shouted speech about the values and importance of quick yet efficiant work.

"Good." She said as she took a brief look at the computer screen playing the images from the cameras scattered in the Glade. "What about subject A2? How is he doing?" Everyone had noticed how the woman had taken quite the interest in the young man, always asking how he was doing and if he needed anything. They all gathered that it must have been because of how promising his results with the variables and tests seemed to be for now. The guy was unknowingly putting their boss in a good mood and they were all really thankful for that.

"Um" The man said, not knowing how to reply to the question. After the recent events, there was a high chance that she was going to be very angry and the scientist wasn't that fond of the idea of being the reason why she becomes furious. The woman looked up and stared at the man, waiting for an answer, like her behavior had shown earlier, she didn't had all the time in the world and so she raised a brow at the man, sensing there was something she needed to know.

"What did he do?" She asked as she turned her attention to the screen, sounding like she already knew Mitch had done something he shouldn't had. This made the man feel a little more at ease, seeing as the woman knew it wasn't something that they had done wrong.

"He went into the maze and spent the night there" The man informed and she snapped her head up instantly. For a brief second the scientist regretted ever opening his mouth in the first place but had no choice now but to continue on with his explaination.

"And? What happened?" She asked, very interrested by the new piece of information.

"And he is still alive" The man announced, making a bright smile appear on the woman's face.

"Ava" Another man said as he entered the room. "What could've possibly happened to make you this happy?" He asked when he saw the expression on her face.

"Subject A2 survived a night in the maze" The woman --Ava-- announced, the wide smile never leaving her lips as she looked at the man. "Do you know what that means, Janson?" She asked and the man raised a brow in boredom or curiousity --none of them could really tell. "It means we may have found the one holding the cure inside him. He might be the answer to all our questions and researches. He could be the key, Janson." She said, clapping in her hands out of excitement.

"Might be" Janson said, insiting on the first word. "We can't jump to conclusions just because he survived a night in the maze" The man said, crushing the little happiness that had bloomed inside the woman. Her smile faded when his words registered and a glare took its place on her face.

"Subject A7," The scientist interrupted, recieving glares from the man and the woman. "Survived the maze as well." He informed, putting a smile back to Ava's face.

"Really?" She asked and the scientist nodded.

"Yes, subject A7 and A9 were both about to be trapped in the maze, subject A9 was unconscious after being stung by one of our grievers. Subject A2 went to the rescue and ran inside the maze at the very last minute. They tied subject A9 up in the ivy and then got seperated. They later found each other again and stayed together till the doors opened." He recalled the events of the previous night and Ava couldn't have been more happy.
