kairi's pov:

school started, I made a couple of friends, mostly girls because the guys here just hate me for no reason, now I know how eli felt with the girls at UA. i would be lying if I said I wasn't trying to find someone to fill the void in my chest, I would also be lying if I said I wasn't trying to find someone like eli.. I wasn't trying to replace her.. I just wanted to feel like I still had her in my life. it's selfish of me, I know that, but what else am I supposed to do.

kairi: ally, wait up!

yeah, her name just happens to be ally... no coincidence as to why I chose to be her friend at all..

ally: oh hey kairi! wanna walk to class?
kairi: mhm
ally: I don't usually put makeup on for school but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone, does it look okay?

not really

kairi: yeah, it looks great
ally: im so stressed over finals! i'm gonna fail for sure
kairi: im not too worried about them
ally: yeah well that's cause you're smart
kairi: you do lack a few brain cells
ally: shut up

she laughed

ally: ohhh! wanna help me study? we can meet up at a park on the weekend if you want to

eli and I used to do that all the time.. her dumbass, ha..

kairi: sure
ally: great!

she smiled and we walked into class and sat down. we didn't really have any other class together other than first period, our schedules didn't really overlap so we would just hang out during our break and lunch.

kairi: i'll see you tomorrow
ally: cya!

she waved at me and got in the car with her mom and I walked home.

kairi: mom, i'm home
aya: do you wanna eat with me-
kairi: no, i'll be upstairs
aya: o-okay..

I tried to distract myself that whole afternoon with school work, video games, youtube, but like always — I ended up falling asleep looking at photos and videos of eli and I. that night was different though, I woke up in a park next to ally

ally: remember two years ago when we came to the park and you got chased by a dog

she laughed

kairi: w-what? two years-
ally: then your dropped your ice cream and I had to get you a new one
kairi: what are you talking about-
ally: remember when you left eli.

her expression changed and everyone at the park had their eyes on me

kairi: s-stop looking at me... stop..!

I kept looking around in a panic

???: why would you leave me..

I looked over at where ally was sitting and my heart sunk

kairi: ...e-eli..
eli: why did you leave me?
kairi: arely I-
eli: why are you replacing me so easily.. why..?

the pain in her eyes was enough to make my heart ache

kairi: im not.. i'm not!
eli: well that's okay.. because you're just as replaceable.
