andy: ito was selling them for four dollars today! suck on that
dylan: yeah well we got two for 6 so, choke on that
andy: where'd you get the rose?
dylan: I bought one and gave it to her

he smiled at andy

andy: ...nice
dylan: mhm
eli: I kinda want more hot cocoa now
dylan: i told you it's good
eli: yo why don't we go-
girl: kai! wait up!

my heart dropped and I looked at some girl running towards someone. I lost her in the crowd and tried looking around for her

girl: kaiii!

I got frustrated and started pushing through people in the crowd to move out of my way

andy: arely, wait for us!
girl: kai!

I had found her and ran towards her

girl: malakai! don't go running off on your own! mom will kill me if you get lost
malakai: sorry! I saw a bubble and wanted to catch it!

my shoulders lowered and I stood there watching them walk away

eli: haa.. what am I doing..
andy: you run so fast what the hell
dylan: why'd you run?
eli: ..I thought I saw someone that I.. used to knew a while back..
dylan: old friend? oooo an ex?!

I weakly chuckled

eli: yeah.. something like that
andy: teaaa
eli: no it's coffee
dylan: huh?
eli: ..never mind..

dylan checked his phone and rolled his eyes

dylan: I have to go back to the dorms and help henry, I forgot I told him i'd help with english homework
eli: should we head back now then?
andy: dylan can head back, we can stay since it's your first time here, we wouldn't want to spoil the night for her, right dylan?

dylan looked frustrated and glared at andy and then sighed

dylan: ...i'll see you guys tomorrow

he walked away and we went the other way

andy: ooh! follow me!
eli: where are we going?
andy: just trust me

we walked up this dirty hill type thing and there was a trail

eli: seriously where are we going?
andy: relaaaax! we're almost there

we kept hiking up the hill and after a while we had finally made it, I was out of breath

andy: we're here
eli: where-

I looked up and I could see all the city lights

eli: oh wow...

I was mesmerized, I sat down on the little bench and he sat next to me

eli: all the lights look so pretty!
andy: right? I usually just come here when I need to clear my head or just need space from all the commotion in my life.. i've.. never brought anyone up here..
eli: ..why'd you bring me?
andy: I just wanted to share something with you I guess.. have a place only we know about

he blushed while looking out into the city, I looked over at him and he noticed

andy: s-sorry if that came off weird! I don't mean it in a creepy way I swear!

I chuckled

eli: thank you for trusting me with this place, andy

I smiled at him

andy: so... what's wrong?
eli: huh?
andy: I noticed you weren't really in the mood since like before we left the dorm

how is he so observant

eli: ah, nothings wrong, i'm just a little tired from yesterday's party I guess

I forcefully laughed, he stared at me

andy: you were chasing that girl that was yelling out "kai" right?

nothing gets past this man

eli: ..yeah
andy: do you.. like him? as in, more than a friend?
eli: is it that obvious?

he laughed

andy: I knew you weren't over it yet, it takes more than a week to get over someone
eli: I just thought that if I pushed the feelings aside, they would eventually go away.. so that's what I did.. I repressed them and it worked for a few days, and it's all just coming back today
andy: I tend to do the same thing, mostly because I thought I was alone, I really didn't have anyone to talk to so I thought if I pushed away my problems for long enough, they'd leave on their own.. it doesn't work like that though
eli: ..

I fidgeted with the rose

andy: after kairi left, I take it you found yourself alone? without anyone by your side anymore..
eli: pretty much.. yeah..
andy: you're wrong though

I looked at him

andy: you have me, you aren't alone because I would never allow that to happen in the first place, to such a bright person like yourself. you don't have to worry anymore, you don't have to repress those feelings, i'm here for you and i'm not going anywhere, I promise

he stuck his pinkie out

eli: ...same goes for you, andy

our pinkie's locked together and we smiled at eachother

andy: you don't have to put up a front when you're with me anymore, you and your feelings are safe with me

I put the rose down next to me and hugged andy

eli: thank you

he stiffened a bit then hugged me back. he rested his cheek on my head, while I laid mine on his chest, as we both looked over the city's lights. I always felt calm when I was with andy, he made me feel safe and accepted. the only other person that made me feel that way was kairi but something about andy was different, it was deeper and more passionate.

2 years later ~

eli: fuck off
dylan: I DIDNT EVEN DO ANYTHING
eli: still
andy: she doesn't like you lol
dylan: no one was speaking to you
eli: im bored!
andy: yo did you hear about that trip the third years get to go on!
eli: trip?
dylan: oh yeah! we get to go to new york or something right!
andy: yeah, are you guys going?
dylan: you think i'm gonna miss out on that?
andy: it's gonna be my first time on a plane, kinda scary
eli: be sure to bring me back some souvenirs
dylan: you're not going?

I shook my head while looking at my phone

andy: what?! why?!
eli: my dad probably won't let me, especially if he knows you two are going
dylan: you're 18 now, it's really not up to him
eli: I guess
andy: I can't believe we're really 18 now, it feels weird
eli: it does though! like.. wow
dylan: well, all I know is now I can legally have se-
eli: I think it's time for you to go to your dorm
