Isaac and Vincent checked the surrounding neighborhood for the missing girl. Meanwhile, I was stuck searching the house with a bunch of drunk idiots who were anything but helpful.
I ran to check the basement first but was stopped in my tracks by the sound of three voices echoing up the stairs-- two male and one female.
Utterly confused about who could be in the basement, I tiptoed down, trying my best to keep quiet.
As I reached the bottom step, I caught a glimpse of two lean and tall male figures standing with their backs to me. One had blonde hair that swooped in loose curls, while the other had straight, dark brown hair.
Nonetheless, I had a full view of the girl's face. She had short, dark brown hair that draped over her shoulders and dark green eyes full of mystery.
What was Melody from Aunt Mary's doing here?
Now scared and confused, I quickly retreated up a couple of steps, keeping my eyes to the bottom of the stairs.
Just my luck, one of the steps squeaked under the pressure of my feet. All the blood instantaneously drained from my face, and my body became stone as if I was staring down Medusa in her stone-cold eyes.
The two men quickly whipped around to face me while Melody slowly looked up, glaring daggers at me with those harsh green eyes.
Realizing the severity of the situation, I turned around, sprinting up the stairs.
Just as I was about to reach the top, hands wrapped around my waist, aggressively dragging me back down to the basement.
The brown-haired boy harshly threw me to the ground, towering over my crumbled body.
Not sure what to do, I tried to scream for help, startling the boy. In response, he quickly, with the power of a horse, kicked my chest to try and silence me.
The brutal impact caused me to lose my breath, making my scream come out as a weakened croak.
The two boys hastily took bone-like bird masks out of backpacks, swiftly pulling them over their faces.
Melody smirked and winked at me before turning towards the door on the far wall of the basement.
As she walked out into the pitch black of night, she whispered, "Bye, sweetheart."
While the two boys were distracted by Melody leaving, I pushed myself up enough to get to my feet to try and escape again.
My chest burned like hellfire as I breathed, and my ribs cracked as it took all my strength to push myself up.
I took off up the stairs again, this time making it all the way up. I made a mad dash for the front door, my heart beating out of my throbbing chest.
This can't be happening...when will my life just calm down?
The two men closed in on me as I struggled to open the front door with my sweaty, shaky hands.
However, to my surprise, the door flew open from the outside, knocking me backward onto my butt.
The dark brown-haired man grabbed a large handful of my hair and forcefully yanked me to my feet.
While in his grasp, I felt something cold and metallic slowly pressed against the side of my head.
Vincent and Isaac stood dumbfounded in the doorway at the sight of the man and me, their faces in utter shock.
"Get in the house." The brown-haired boy barked, his voice low and husky, slightly muffled by the mask.
