It Never Ends

"Hi, welcome to Sally's Diner! What can I get y'all to drink?" An overly peppy red-haired girl asked as she approached our table.

"I'll have water, please," my mom said, sounding tired and ready to fall asleep.

"Okay, and for you two lovely ladies?"

"Can I have a sprite?" Bella asked.

"I'll take a sprite too." I added.

"All right! Here are your menus, take your time and I'll be back in a few with your drinks." The red-haired girl placed down large plastic menus and struted away.

My mom looked over at me, then Bella, with worry creased into her face. "Alright girls, after dinner we're going to be driving to a hotel."

I cut my mom short, "A hotel? What, why?"

"If you'd let me finish, I'll tell you! The detective on your case has recommended we skip town for a while till everything blows over. We were going to be staying in Kitty Hawk for a while. I know it's a really far drive but I don't want to take any chances. I've already packed bags for you two."

I interrupted again, causing an annoyed look to replace the worry on her face. "I know Bella's dad was a busy man but won't he want to watch her?"

My mom sighed, clearly irritated."Ivy, Bella has asked to stay with us and not her dad. He gave me permission to take care of her. Now as I was saying, I packed you both bags with minimal clothes and some toiletries. We need to eat fast, move fast, and get out of here."

"Sounds good, Miss Anderson." Bella said.

"So how'd they let you out of the hospital so soon, Bells?" I asked.

"Well, the wound wasn't as bad as we thought. I mean, it was bad, but not deep. Not deep enough to seriously harm me, anyways."

"How was your dad okay with this? How was he letting you run away with us?"

"My goodness, so many questions! Well, he has important work he needs to do, so by proxy, he can't leave, ya know?"

"Uh, I guess so. Mom, can I go grab a sweatshirt from the car?"

"Of course, but be quick!"

"Can I go with her, Miss. Anderson?" Bella asked.

"No Bella! You know you should be walking as little as possible!"

"I'll be okay, Miss Anderson! It's only a few feet! Plus, we shouldn't do things alone!"

I quickly shuffled out of the booth, Bella slowly following behind.

As we walked out to the car, I heard her frantically tapping away at her phone.

"Got a hot date tonight, Bella?" I teased.

"What? Oh--um yeah! I got you to hangout with tonight!" she replied, awkwardly

The two of us reached the car and frantically dug through the monstrous bags.

Suddenly, I heard Bella scream, and before I could turn around to investigate, I felt something sharp poke my neck.

As the person let go of me, I whirled around.

There were two men with black bird masks, one of them holding Bella's limp body.

My head started to swirl, and I suddenly couldn' think.

I tried to run, but my legs felt like jelly. Instead, I fell painfully to the ground.

Using what little upper body strength I had left, I tried to crawl away, but before I even made it five feet, my vision went black and I'm knocked out.

* * *

I'm awoken by the sudden slamming of large metal doors in front of me.

Disoriented and immersed in total darkness, it took my eyes and brain a second to catch up with my situation.

I was in a van.

Slowly, I got onto my hands and knees and crawled my way to what I hoped was forward, where the doors would be.

Not a moment later, I heard the unmistakable roar of an engine and felt the sudden jerky motions of the van moving forward.

"No, no, no!" I screamed, quickening my trek forward.

"Help! Somebody help me!" I screamed, painfully slamming into what felt like the two metal doors. "Help! Please someone help"! I started repeatedly slamming my knuckles into the door while screaming my heart out.

This was useless.

I was gonna die.

Still, I continued to pound my hands against the hard metal and screamed until my throat was raw; my breathing turned to pants as I gasped for air.

As we continued to keep moving forward, the feeling of hope started to dwindle in my chest.

I really am going to die.

After hours of tirelessly screaming, punching and kicking at the door, I felt the van finally come to a stop.

I needed to find a weapon.

Again on hands and knees, I scavenged the edge of the van for something.

Anything.

As I reached the far back corner, I felt something porous and scratchy under my hands.

Wood.

I found long beams of wood!

I rapidly scrounged up the biggest piece I could carry and waited, lurking in the shadows for the kidnappers.

The doors were thrown open, and I was immediately immersed in bright natural light from outside.

I wasted not even a second before jumping out and smacking someone in the face.

As the person groaned in pain, I bolted from the van into the landscape in front of me.

I was in the woods.

I was in the woods?

They really were going to kill us.

Wait, I couldn't leave Bella behind.

But if I didn't leave now, we would both die.

I took off into the woods, having no sense of direction.

In reality, I had no clue where I was, or where I was going to go.

Branches creaked under my feet as I darted through thick trees.

My feet shuffled quickly through debris as I heard the feet of two people falter behind.

Squirrels chartered around me, leaves rustled above me.

My chest promptly started burning as I pushed myself forward, my shins crying out in pain.

From somewhere behind me, I heard a girl's voice shout, startling me.

I turned around only to see nothing, so I squinted my eyes, scanning the woods for the culprit of the voice.

"Ivy, stop! Please Ivy come back!" The voice rang closer, this time to my right.

That was when I spotted her.

She was a tall blonde girl, with golden blonde hair.

Bella?

Why was Bella calling for me to come back?

"Ivy, please we don't want to hurt you! Come back!"

No, not Bella.
