SPOILERS FOR FUTURE ARC. TW: Su!c!de.

Makoto spotted her forbidden action. She had tried so hard to keep it hidden, but her sleeve had come up far enough that he couldn't help but sneak a glance.

Passing The Fourth Time Limit With Makoto Naegi Alive

His heart dropped. She was going to sacrifice herself in order for him to survive. She noticed him staring.

"Yes?" she blinked and crossed her arms. He gulped.

"Um, can I talk to you Kiri? Alone?" she nodded and followed him. Ryota and Aoi exchanged a glance. Once they were out of earshot from the other two, he couldn't control himself. "What are you thinking?!" she took a step back.

"I don't know what you're talking about Naegi," she kept a straight face as always, not showing any emotions.

"Your forbidden action," her eyes dropped and her arms fell to her sides.

"So, you saw?" she had a look of pain on her face.

"Yeah, of course I did and you're not going ahead with it," he said, turning around.

"Makoto, you can't." She grabbed his wrist. A shiver went down his spine. He turned back to look at her.

"You just called me by my first name," his words came out choppy and slow.

"Don't be so stupid, Naegi," she loosened her grip on his wrist.

"You did, Kiri," he said, almost like he was trying to convince himself as well as her. His jaw was slightly dropped and his eyes widened.

"You must be mistaken," she glanced quickly at the clock, but he caught her.

"No," he shook his head at her. "You can't."

"Please, Makoto, I'm begging you. Let me be the one to die," she looked him in the eye and her hand trailed down to hold his.

"You can't..." his eyed watered. "You just called me Makoto again, Kiri," she scoffed.

"Yeah, call me Kyoko," she said. He held her hand a little bit tighter. She smiled.

"Re-really?" he said, stunned.

"Yeah," she nodded.

"Before you..." he didn't finish the sentence. "Can I hold your hand?" she stared at him confused.

"Makoto, you are," she took his other hand.

"I mean, without your gloves," he specified, his face turning red.

"Oh," she let go of his hands.

"I'm sorry! I shouldn't've asked!" she chuckled and took off her gloves, slowly. He looked at the scars.

"It's okay," she looked at him before touching his cheek, he flinched and she pulled away. "I'm sorry," she started putting her glove back on, but he grabbed both of her hands.

"I flinched because of how you look," he said.

"What does that mean?" she asked.

"You're beautiful, Kir- Kyoko," it felt nice to say her name. She blushed. "Are you blushing?"

"No, of course not," she looked away, but he used one hand and cupped her cheek.

"I have a confession to make," he said, his voice trembled.

"Go ahead," she nodded.

"I- I love you, Kiri!" he said. She sighed.

"I know," he stood there, shocked before kissing her. She didn't think in her whole life anyone would ever do that. She felt tears on her face and he pulled away. "I love you too," he gripped her hand tightly.

"That's why I have to do this," he squeezed her hand tightly, then turned on his heel and ran. Her heart stopped as she screamed his name. Her legs gave out and she saw Ryota and Aoi running towards her. Sobs came out from her as Aoi helped her up.

"Where's Naegi?" Hina asked. She pointed to where he had ran off to. Ryota gasped. "No, no, no, no, no. It can't be. Why would he do such a thing?"

"For me," Kyoko showed Aoi her forbidden action and suddenly everything made sense.

"Oh, he did it to save you," she looked down. Kyoko let of Aoi and started walking down the hall. She saw Makoto's frail body. His eyes were closed, but he looked relieved. She sat down next to him and checked his pulse, she knew it was impossible.

"Nothing," she let the tears pour out. The ones she had been holding in since Leon's death. She heard the screams from the executions, Makoto's- She grabbed his hand and held it tightly before noticing something. A piece of paper was tucked into his jacket pocket. She wiped her tears and took it out, unfolded it and started reading.

Dear Kyoko,

I know you don't like people calling you by your first name, but it is one of my biggest dreams to call you that. I know it's a stupid dream, but it's mine.

She laughed at his words.

I know how dangerous this killing game is going to be, but I'm glad that you're here with me. Because you are the strongest person I know. So, in case I don't make it out alive or heaven forbid you don't, I love you. I have since that day in the garbage, when you kinda framed me. Anyway, I hope you never have to read this letter.

I love you, from Makoto

P.S: You're perfect.

She held his letter close to her heart and let out quiet sobs. She was aware that Aoi had a hand on her back, but she ignored.

"Do you wanna talk?" she asked. Kyoko shook her head. There was only one person who she wanted to talk to about this, but he was gone...

Hope you all like this! I always wanted to do a story about what would've happened if Makoto had died instead of Kyoko. - Crazy Abs
