My Sunflower

Chapter Eight.

Melody's POV. 

We just finished setting up at insomnia for the gig and there is a sense of pure magic in the air. We all headed back to Reggie's house to get ready for the gig.

"Melody! If you don't get out of this bathroom now, I will pee my pants!" I heard Reggie shout from outside of the upstairs bathroom.

"You're lucky I just finished getting ready dude," I laughed as I exited the bathroom.

I felt so punk rock. I was wearing a black Aerosmith crop top, high waisted distressed jeans with black fishnets underneath, topped off with my doc martens. I had my dark red hair in two half up dutch braids that were bubbled out to make them look bigger and fuller, and the rest was in loose curls. I had a smokey winged eyeshadow look, and a dark mauve lipstick. I walked into the living room where Luke and Alex sat watching Boy Meets World. I walked right in front of the TV and put my hands on my hips.

"Melody, you look absolutely amazing!" Alex shouted, high-fiving me.

Luke looked at me with a facial expression I had never seen before.

"Melody.." he stammered, biting his lip. "You look so beautiful. Absolutely perfect," he looked me up and down while continuing to bite his lip.

"Oh, thank you. Lemme do a spin for ya," I giggled.

Just then Reggie came down the stairs. "Time to head down to the café!" he excitedly shouted, grabbing the keys to the car and we hit the road! 

Time skip to just before they perform

Alex's POV. 

Luke and Reggie just went to go grab water bottles and check out the crowd before we perform. I was hanging out in a back room waiting for them to come back when Melody walked in on me pacing and whispering to myself.

"You okay Alex? You seem upset," she asked.

"I'm just really nervous. What if they don't like me? Or if they think we suck, I just can't calm down."

"I understand hun, I am really nervous too. I've never performed in front of a real crowd before. But you have, and they love you guys every time! It'll all be okay," she smiled and gave me a hug, wrapping her small arms around me.

"I never realized how small you are," I laughed, feeling my anxiety disperse.

"See, you'll be fine. You will embody a total drummer god and absolutely rock that stage!" She high fives me and I can practically feel the energy she's putting off.

"I think you just let out your inner Luke," I laughed as she jumped to hype herself up for the performance.

"Alright guys," Luke said as he walked in with Reggie holding a bunch of water bottles. "The crowd is a little bigger than we're used to, but we're gonna rock this coffee house!" 

Melody's POV. 

The boys went out onto the stage after they were announced and immediately started playing Now or Never, while I hid in the audience waiting for them to call me up onto the stage.

Take off

Last stop

Countdown till we blast open the top

Face first

Full charge

Electric hammer to the heart

Luke sang and played the guitar as Reggie played his bass and Alex played the drums.

Clocks move forward
