Melody's POV.
"Melody Rain Peters! Now where did THAT come from?" Reggie exclaimed, picking up my small body in a bear hug.
"For real Melody, that was amazing!" Luke said joining the bear hug. Once I realized we were hugging I stopped and tried to calm myself down.
"I don't know! It just came out! I haven't let it all out in so long. Thank you for getting me to do that," I smiled, touching Luke's shoulder.
Just then I felt something. My heart started beating harder and faster. I looked into his eyes and I could tell he felt something too. I shook it off and felt my face getting redder by the second.
"It's um, getting late. Reggie and I should get going. Don't want his parents to start thinking their niece is going to be a bad influence," I chuckled. Looking for an excuse to get heading home.
"We definitely already have that covered, Melody. But you're right. We don't want Mr and Mrs Peters to not let you guys come practice with us," he said while punching Reggie in the shoulder.
"We'll see you guys tomorrow then?" Alex asked.
"Mel, would you like to come hang out at rehearsal again tomorrow?" Reggie asked me.
"Why not?" I smiled, grabbing Reggie. "But I'm tired. Let's get going home man," I said. We waved goodbye to his band mates.
Luke's POV.
After Melody and Reggie left Alex and I stuck around to clean up a bit before going our separate ways home. Just as I was about to leave the garage studio I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. I turned around and went up to the couch.
Melody's songwriting book! I grabbed the sunflower covered book and headed on my way home for the night. I unlocked the door and quietly went up to my room. Today was Friday and it's summer so I didn't have a curfew tonight. Once in my room I crashed onto my bed and took out both my songwriting book and Melody's.
'Should I really go through this?' I thought to myself. I really shouldn't. But that never stopped me from doing the wrong thing before. Besides, she has an amazing voice, I gotta know what she's writing about.
Broken home
Outer Space
Stuck in the Silence
"Wow, these are all so sad.. I didn't realize how sad she must be. But these are dated from months before her parents passed away?" I questioned aloud. I went back to the front of the book rather than the more recent pages.
Wake Up
If Only
Sunflower
Not in the Same Way
"Oh well those weren't as sad but still," I thought.
How can such a beautiful girl with such an amazing voice be so sad? She didn't seem that sad at rehearsal. This girl is so awesome. She writes, she sings with the most amazing voice, she is so pretty. Wait what am I thinking. Melody is Reggie's cousin, they're even living together now, they're basically siblings. I can't have a crush on a girl who is basically my best friend's sister. I don't even know if I really would say this is even a crush, she just seems so interesting. She's got this sassy but shy exterior and I just want to know who she really is.
I stumbled across a dogeared page on one of the more recently written on pages.
'This must be what she was working on tonight while we were rehearsing,' I silently thought while beginning to read the lyrics she wrote:
