Melody's POV.
My alarm began to go off and I groaned before getting out of bed. I went to my closet to find clothes for the day. I chose a pair of distressed jeans and a plain black t-shirt that I tucked into my jeans. I slipped on my socks and my converse and went into the bathroom to quickly finish getting ready. I chose a more natural makeup look and threw my hair into a messy bun above my neck. I brushed my teeth and went to go check if Reggie was awake yet.
I knocked on his door and didn't get a response, so I entered his room to see him still asleep in his bed.
"Seriously Reg?" I laughed, grabbing him and shaking him awake. "Hello, first day of school? Gotta pick up the guys?"
He jumped up and frantically got ready. I laughed and went back to my room to grab my bag and stuffed it with a few notebooks and my pens and pencils. I went down to the kitchen and grabbed an apple for my breakfast as I waited for Reggie to finish getting ready. I filled up a water bottle for myself and one for my cousin.
"Come on slowpoke," Reggie called to me as he walked out the door.
We picked up Alex and headed to Luke's house. Luke came out the front door with his guitar case on his back and backpack in his hands, along with a brown paper bag in the other hand.
"Yo, pop the trunk so I can put the six-string in there," He called to Reggie from outside of the car. Luke hopped into the backseat and pulled out some muffins from the brown bag. "Mom made some blueberry muffins for us. She knows how we never get up early enough for a decent breakfast," his hand lingered on mine as he handed me one for myself and one for Reggie.
"Stop being so yucky, lovebirds!" Reggie squealed, looking at our lingering hands in the mirror. I laughed and handed him his muffin and took a few nibbles out of mine.
Reggie turned on the radio and I'll Make Love To You by Boys || Men came on. We all immediately started singing in silly voices, going back and forth between being serious and funny.
"Luke," Reggie said while looking in the mirror, at Luke. "Why the hell are you staring at Melody while you sing that song?"
"I-I- I- I don't know what you're talking about.." he ruffled his hair and looked out the window.
I felt my face getting red and slumped down into my seat. I finished my muffin and hid my face in my shirt. We got to the school and Reggie pulled into the parking lot. We all filed out of the car and grabbed our bags from the trunk. We walked in a horizontal line, from left to right going Alex, Luke, me, then Reggie on the end. We put our arms around one another and began to walk towards the front of the school where there were a few people getting last minute schedules. I grabbed mine from my back pocket and the boys all did the same. Luckily I had every class with at least one of the guys so they can show me around and where to go. We all walked into our homeroom class and chose a group of desks towards the back of the classroom.
Because it was the first day of school we had long passing periods so our class didn't start for another five minutes. We sat at our tables and I pulled out my songbook to revise a few verses I have been meaning to get to.
Quietly humming a few notes and writing followed by erasing I zoned out into my writing. I completely forgot we were in school and jumped when the bell rang. The teacher began to settle the class down before beginning roll call.
"My name is Mr. Franklin, and I will be your homeroom teacher this year," He introduced himself and began going through the names before getting to the middle of the alphabet.
"Alex Mercer?" He asked.
"Here," He replied, while nervously raising his hand. I rubbed his arm to tell him it was okay and we were there for him.
