CHAPTER 1: Hunters and Prey

The moon glow brightly in the night, shining every tree, making it lightly visible. The woods were fairly quiet, hearing the sound of crickets echoing through, as two fuming eyes from a huge creature emanate from the darkness.

The creature gave a low growl, crouching itself down, hiding behind a bush as it observed its prey. The creature furrowed its eyes, showing its determination. The creature huffed as it leaped forward, pouncing its way to the creature in front of it.

The creature rolled to the ground, along with the other creature it attacked. After rolling, they both slowly stood up, as the furry creatures shifted themselves into a human.

The two stepped into the shining light, showing two girls. The first girl has a dark brown hair with two long sections of hair in front, sticking out on both sides of her head, wearing a maroon colored beanie while the other girl has a short turquoise-blue hair, wearing a pair of round glasses.

"Ughh!! What the hell Luz?" The girl with the turquoise-blue hair groaned "Why do you have to tackle me like that?!"

Luz laughed, slowly getting off of her friend with a smile on her face "Oh, c'mon, why don't you just lighten up a little Willow"

"I could, if you would let me be the hunter next time" Willow huffed, dusting herself a little before looking back at her friend

"Well, maybe I will." Luz trailed off "once you beat me at rock, paper, scissors"

Willow rolled her eyes, looking away in annoyance of her friend being right. After looking around, Willow raised a brow, feeling that someone's missing "Wait, where's Gus?"

"I don't really know, but I gotta say." Luz trailed off "He's pretty good at hiding away from me"

"Seriously?" Willow huffed

"What? I was just telling the truth" Luz threw her hands up in the air defensively.

"Let's just find Gus" Willow said, looking around for her friend "Gus! Where are you??"

"Up here!" Someone shouted. Both of them looked up, seeing a boy with a dark brown hair with lighter shades on the sides up in a tree

"What are you doing up there?" Luz asked, raising a brow questionably

"I kinda got scared of you finding me so I climbed up here" Gus explained

"Well? Why don't you come down? Willow asked, looking up to Gus, as silence quickly surrounded them before Willow spoke "You can't get down, can you?"

Gus made a nervous chuckle, making Luz giggle at her friend "Maybe you wouldn't be in this situation if you didn't lose on rock, paper, scissors with me-" Luz boasted but was cut off

"Yeah, yeah, we wouldn't have been the prey if we had won on that stupid rock, paper scissors of yours. We get it!" Willow repeated, looking at her friend with annoyance as she climbed up the tree, helping her friend get down

After Willow and Gus got down, Luz looked at Gus with a smile "Maybe next time you should hide somewhere not up the tree Gus, this is the fifth time you got stuck on top of a tree while we're playing Hunters and prey" Luz explained

"Y'know I can't hide very well" Gus argued "And I can't think of a place to hide that you wouldn't find me besides up the tree"

"Maybe this time you would let me and Gus play the hunter" Willow suggested, crossing her arms over her chest

"Sure!" Luz answered, making Gus and Willow lighten up "Once you beat me"

"And when will that be?" Gus asked
