CHAPTER 21: Finding Answers

Luz's Perspective

I can't believe it! Is this really true or am I just dreaming? I can't believe she agreed. My mind is still having some doubts that she would come, besides she's not obligated to talk to me since both our clans are in an endless dispute.

I stopped running for a while and shifted into my human form and sat on a rock. Gus and Viney were at my side, looking around as they wait for Willow to come.

"When do you think did this anger between the vampire clan and wolf clan even started?" I wondered.

"The question is why did it happen?" Gus corrected.

"Honestly, we don't really know. The elders said that it all started since ancient times, us immortals are fighting over which clan are the first to be born in this world. Of course, us vampires believe that it was us who first came into this world before wolves, but your kind disagrees with it and says that they are the ones who were born first" Viney explained.

"Just that? They started an immortal war just because they want to know which clan was the first to sprout in the world? Are you kidding me?!" I complained "I'm being given with a responsibility to protect our pack and fight with the vampire clan just because of something like that?!! What kind of shit is that?! Are they really thinking or are they just plain stupid?"

"Wow, says the wolf who fights in a head-to-head combat with a rock" Gus laughed, making me slightly embarrassed by what he said.

Viney giggled "I can't really argue with your logic Luz, but we also can't judge the past. You may never know when the past is not what it seems."

"Well, you do have a point" I agreed "But... something still weighs in my mind."

"What is it?" Gus asked.

"Why did it all even started? Disagreements and fights don't really start without a reason... or even a cause" I don't know why but that question always comes into my mind whenever I hear about immortal disputes. Everything has its own cause and reasons but why only this story?

Why does it feel so familiar?

Why would immortals even argue about these silly things? All of our history should have a beginning or the first person behind all of it. Vampires and wolves aren't the only immortals in the world, but why did the disagreement start with them?

They said that there was a time when immortals and mortals lived together in unity, but as the time changes so was the mortals. Humans began to resent us immortals, feeling that we will be the cause of their extinction.

But

Is that all?

Did humans really hated us or it's just what we Immortals think?

Our ancestors told us that humans were the reason why we are fighting. As a former mortal, I don't think that's true.

The answer for all of that seems so close, yet so far.

I have a feeling the answer to the past is connected to what's happening in the present somehow.

[Everyone has their own reason to exist, you however, is someone who is more exceptional than others. You don't need a reason to exist, 'cause you are the one who stands above us all]

GASP

"Luz!" I heard them yell my name, but their voice seems to be getting more and more distant until I can't hear anything anymore.

Who was that?

The voice that I heard just now, didn't belong to the girl I've been hearing many times before. This time, it belongs to a man.
