Chapter Twenty-Three

The door bursts open with a loud bang, the sound of it making my heart shake.

The man gets up with a tsk sound. "You're here already?" he asks the figure in the doorway. "I haven't even gotten to the fun part yet."

My eyes widen and I call his name, my voice cracking.

"X-Xa...vier..."

His usually black hair had become streaked with silver. His black eyes turned blue and he was panting hard.

Can robots even get tired?

"Get away from Rowan," he says, no emotion in his voice. "Arthur, you scumbag."

Arthur?

The man laughs. "What, you knew it was me?" he sighs and looks at me. "I hoped my men would at least hold you back a little longer. That way, I could've scre--"

Faster than I could blink, Xavier lashes forward and socks him in the jaw. "You piece of shiz!" he screams as Arthur falls to the ground. Xavier pulls his foot back and begins to kick him. "Rowan isn't another one of your toys! Do anything to him again and I will personally tear out your heart and shove it up your--"

"Xavier," I call, my voice shaking.

He's here.

At the sound of my voice, Xavier looks over at me and runs towards me. "Rowan," he says softly, his voice breaking. "I'm sorry, Rowan, I'm so sorry, I'm--"

He came.

I sniff and hang my head. I can't cry now, that's pathetic.

A warm hand--warm?--lifts my face up and touches our foreheads together. We're so close; we share breaths. "Rowan," he whispers. "If you're scared, you can cry. I'm here now."

Does anyone know how mesmerizing blue eyes are?

Tears slip down my cheeks and I sniff again. "Xavier..."

He presses my head into his chest to cover my face and strokes my head softly. "It's okay, it's okay," he whispers. "You're okay now..."

"How touching."

Out of the corner of my eye, I could make out a blurry figure standing up.

"Now how come I don't get a greeting like that?" Arthur complains. "You just punched and kicked me."

Xavier strokes me head soothingly once more before whispering in my ear, "Rowan, I don't want you to see this, so please close your eyes."

I nod.

He steps away and wipes my tears away with his thumb. I suddenly feel cold without him there as I close my eyes.

"Hey, Christopher," I hear him say. "This is for killing Rowan's brother."

What?

Christopher?

He killed Sebastian?

My chest grows cold. I thought his name was Arthur.

I hear the click of a gun and I bite my lip, trying to identify which one it was without opening my eyes.

Oh.

It's a Glock.

Doesn't Dad have one?

"You're not going to shoot me," I hear Arthur... or Christopher say. Even with the confidence overflowing in his voice, I can hear it shaking.

"Try me."

And I hear Xavier shoot twice.

Is it moving too fast? is it?

Whew this book is finally ending! I want to thank all of you for reading this! I'm rly grateful to all of you and ur comments and votes!

Yes there will be an epilogue, which will be the next chapter. There will also be a bonus chapter after it. Tehe^^

And there will be a sequel too! Once I finish this book, I will let u know when I plan on publishing it.
