I open my eyes and immediately regret my decision when I am almost blinded by the sunlight coming through the window. I guess I forgot to close the curtains last night. I groan rolling out of bed and I make my way to the bathroom.

Memories of last night play over in my head when I look in the mirror and see mascara staining my cheeks from crying last night. I wipe it away and then start getting ready. I feel so bad for yelling at him and I hope he will forgive me. I still don't feel like I have done anything wrong, but I probably should have handled the situation slightly better.

Once I am ready I start to go downstairs. I am wearing a grey oversized hoodie and yoga pants. I walk into the room to see Junior playing with the twins and Maria, Cristiano's mum, cuddling Alana on the couch. However, Cristiano is no where to be seen.

"Good morning dear." Maria greets me as she notices my presence in the door way.

"Good morning Maria." I say as I take the seat next to her on the sofa, "where is Cristiano?"

"He went to training but he didn't want to wake you, so he asked me to come and watch the kids until you woke up." A look of confusion takes over my face, "he didn't tell you he was at training today?"

"No. He told me yesterday that he was taking a few days off because of everything that's happened and would go back tomorrow." Don't get me wrong, I'm not mad that he went because I have no right to be. Football is not only his life but it's his job so he almost has to be there. But why didn't he tell me he was going back?

"Is everything ok?" Maria asks, I know she senses that something is off by the look on my face.

"Yea, we had a petty argument last night. I was hoping to clear the air and speak to him this morning but I'll just do it when he gets home. Do you know why he left so early? I don't think kick-off is till 8 tonight." Usually you don't need to be there until a few hours before kick-off, depending on the time it takes to travel the the stadium.

"I'm not sure. I assumed it was an early kick-off." She shrugged and I got up and went to my room to get my phone off of the nightstand. I walked back downstairs and stood in the door way. I scrolled through my contacts until I found Cris' number and then pressed ring. He picked up after a few seconds.

"Hello." He said down the phone.

"Hey, why did you leave so early?"

"I wanted to work on some things with a few of the guys before the game."

"Kick-off isn't for another 10 hours so you have at least 8 and a half hours until you have to be there. It's a home game so you don't have to travel. You're not just doing this to avoid me, are you?" I am confused.

"It's one of the guys birthdays. We are planning on going out for lunch in a few hours. I'm going to catch up with them and let them know why I haven't been at training in a few days. Why would you think I would want to avoid you? I want to talk to you about everything. I promised these guys I would go out with them so I came into your room this morning and I was going to talk to you then but you looked so peaceful and then I noticed the mascara running down your face and realised that I was the reason you were crying."

The bloody mascara!

"So I left you to sleep and called my mum to watch the kids." He sounded pretty offended that I accused him of avoiding me.

"Ok, I'm sorry, I just had to ask to be sure. But anyway, have fun with the guys and take it easy. We don't want you getting injured. I'll speak to you when you get home." We said our goodbyes and hung up.

"Everything ok?" I hear Maria say walking back into the room from the kitchen with Alana's bottle in hand. When did she leave the room?

"Yea, it's one of the guys birthdays so they are practising some stuff and doing some light training and then going out to eat before the game."
