I jump out of my car and lock the vehicle and start to walk into work. I check my phone to see if I can any notifications before I put it on silent and in my pocket as I'm not supposed to be on it during work. As I'm about to turn off my phone, I happen to catch a glimpse of the date.
October 28, 2019.
1 year ago today I met my best friend. On this day in 2018 I was introduced to Cristiano Ronaldo, my childhood idol, my celebrity crush and all time favourite footballer when we played Juventus at Old Trafford in the group stage of the Champions League last season.
A lot has changed since that day. Cris became more than just a footballer I looked up to. He became my best friend and the man I love more than anything in this world. A man that makes me happy and smile no matter my previous emotions. A man that is always there for me even though he lives 980 miles away.
A lot has changed in the club as well. We got a new manager. Club legend Ole Gunner Solskjear took over from Jose Mourinho after he was sacked, originally he was only caretaker manager but after a very impressive run of games, he got the permanent job.
Several players have left the club since then too. Ander Herrera left at the beginning of the transfer window as well as some of our amazing players like Antonio Valencia and Romelu Lukaku. Alexis Sánchez also when on loan at the beginning of the season to Inter Milan where Lukaku had joined on a permanent deal.
"Hello Alyssa Jade." I hear from behind me as I walk through the entrance of Aon Training Complex. I whip my head around quickly but disappointment settles when I realise it's only Harry Maguire, who jogs up next to me and throws his arm around me. I give him a small smile and place my hand on his as we walk.
I know it seems weird that I'm disappointed to just see Harry but that nickname is what Ander Herrera used to call me by every time he saw me before he left the club. I used to be close with him and when he found out my middle name in December last year, he would constantly call me it to wine me up.
I told Harry about it a week ago because we started talking about Ander. A lot of us miss him around here. He brought something to the team that's hard to describe. He always fought for the badge and put 110% effort into all his games. He was a great friend to us all.
At the end of last season, he announced he was leaving the club. He never told us the true reason only leaving us to believe things that the media would say. We know we shouldn't because they usually make something up but it's hard not to when he isn't denying it and isn't talking to us or telling us the real reason. He joined PSG during the summer transfer window and I really hope he is happy over there. I miss him a lot. We were great friends but all good things do come to an end I guess.
We signed Harry Maguire from Leicester City for £80 million. He came to the club and took the #5 shirt and has done so well here so far. A lot of people don't like him due to his price tag. They say he isn't worth the money. I understand that. £80 million is a lot but he has been terrific when he has played and he will only get better.
I have developed a friendship with him as he is close friends with Marcus and Jesse because of the England squad. Harry is one of England's first choice centre backs and is now becoming one of ours. Because Jesse and Marcus were also England's first choices they were always with him. Especially during the World Cup. This means they created a bond and that immediately means I created a bond with him too.
We also signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace for £45 million. He took the #29 shirt and I can tell that he will one day, most likely soon, be one of the best right backs in the league, maybe the world. I have worked closely with him in training and I did his health and fitness checks before he could join in with the squad. He is a truly amazing man.
We then signed Daniel James from Swansea. We bought him for £15 million and he took #21. At first I was mad about this as this was Ander's number. But after a while I realised I was being pathetic and it was just a shirt number.
I've got to know him over the past few months, Dan. He's such a sweet guy. Always has a smile on his face and will do what ever he can to make the people around him happy too. Doesn't have to try hard though, his smile is very infectious.
Dan has had a very good start to the season. Scoring goals in his first few games. He puts his heart into the games and plays for the team. He reminds me of Ander in that way. Not to mention he is really fast so counter attacks with him on the pitch are great. He presses for the ball and works so hard. He has been a great addition to the squad, on the training ground, pitch and dressing room.
Our young boy Mason Greenwood, who made his first team debut in that amazing win over PSG last season, has come up to first team. He is only 18. He turned 18 at the beginning of the month. He is such a lovely boy with so much potential it is unreal. I have spoken with him on several occasions and he is so excited to be in the team, it means so much to him.
He has been at Manchester United since he was a child. He has grown as a player and a person in this teams academy. We have a really good academy here at United and it is full of talent and potential in all these rising stars. We give first team debuts to so many young stars.
Marcus and Jesse both came through the academy. Angel Gomes, Dean Henderson who is on loan with Sheffield United, Axel Tuenzebe, Brandon Williams, Scott McTominay, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, and so many other Manchester United greats and huge talents for other teams.
"Morning guys!" Ole said as me and Harry walked out into the training pitch after putting our bags away. We greeted him and started small talk with him and a few of the other guys whilst we waited for everyone to arrive.

"Right, I'll see you later Lyss. Message me when you get back safe ok?" Marcus said pulling me into a hug. We are currently stood outside my car. We just finished training and Marcus made me wait for him to get dressed because he wanted to walk me out for some reason.
"Yes I will. Love you Beanz." I said pulling away from him and opening up my car door.
"Love you too you weirdo." He smiled at me and closed my door for me once I was sat down. He waved at me and then began to walk towards his own car. I smiled and then pulled out of the car park in front of Aon Training complex.
There were security guards around the entrance holding back the United fans gathered outside hoping for a photo of one or with one of the players. I love our fans so much. They mean everything to us. I love hearing them chant our players names during matches. I love hearing them scream and shout after we score a goal. The passion in there voice. They really love this team and so do I.
I pull into my usual parking space outside of my home unbuckle my seat beat. I turn off the car and am about to step out but I freeze. My hand on the door handle staring at the person sat on my door step.
What is he doing here? He never told me he was coming.

A/N - hope you guys enjoyed this chapter❤️
I am so sorry that I haven't updated in a while. I have had such a crappy week with arguments and things and just haven't been in the mood to write.
So last game of the premier league season soon. I'm not gonna lie I don't want this season to end. I'm loving it. However on the bright side, Euros are coming up! I'll get to watch all of the incredible English players together and hopefully we can bring it home this year! I just bought my England top as well which I am very excited to wear!
